I have seen plenty of examples of people in cars not looking out for bike riders also, or not giving a damn, putting the motorcyclist's lives in jeap. I rode scooters [motorcycles] for many years and when I started , at 16 yo, an older friend who also rode told me this "... EVERY cage [car] driver wants to kill you. Your mother, father and whole family who are cage drivers. Remember this and you will stay rubber side down." In the 20+ years I rode scooters I remembered this and I'm here today ! I have told many younger riders this. Everything that happens to you on a bike is your own fault for letting yourself get into a position where it can happen. Besides my wits, I have a had to give up two wheels for three. I ride a big bright red Gold Wing trike with chrome and lights everywhere. And a trailer. And white helmets and brightly colored jackets. And prayers. At my age we have decided that we would rather take our chances on the road than on the couch. One hour on the bike is worth a week away from it. For young riders with young children the formula will be different. I did stop for several years when I was 22 because of the reasons Florida states above.

I'd love a big Gold Wing trike. That would be the way I would roll...or at least, how I'd imagine I'd roll.

If I had “ big bucks “ I’d buy myself a new POLARIS SLINGSHOT SLR LE👍👍👍. Starting price of about $31,000...a lot of money for a joy ride but looks like fun. For a few thousand more I could own a new Mazda MX-5 Turbo convertible, if I hit the lotto I’d own both👍

I have pondered Miatas many a time. Great cars. Currently ogling an Austin Healey for sale locally. It would need some work. I have seen the Slingshots on the road a few times. Very low and hard to see. But cool.

Back in 1966, my father bought my mother an AH 3000 in BRG w/tan leather interior. She had it till '69 when she traded it for a new baby blue Beetle. She said she was tired of having to put the top up on the Healey and she liked the color of the Beetle better! The tops on US and British ragtops back then were a real pain. First you put up the top frame then you pulled the canvas top over it and they always had shrunk slightly between rain storms it seemed !! The Germans and Cadillac were the only cars with an integral frame and canvas top! Even the ragtop Beetle had a top where you just folded/unfolded the top as one piece !

Decided it was too low for me and too tight for my 260lbs. The Slingshot has had some really bad reviews. Very uncomfortable for a long trip. You can get a barely used one for around 17k I believe. The Motor Trike Thoroughbred Stallion is available used for around 20k with AC. They have a Chevy engine and transmission and were overbuilt, so they should last forever. Alas, they are not big enough for our butts. At any rate, the Gold Wing rules the open road.

I remember coming from a rock concert in September '75, and finding the top down on my friends Sprite, and raining buckets. It must have taken an hour to get the top up.

We've no bears or snakes or poisonous things over here so you'll be fine sleeping on a mountain. I slept on one in a Bivouac Bag. Was freakin' freezing, but I didn't get mauled.

I'm not Irish but they owe is I'm Scandinavian and we would both like to come I'm not really Irish either. I regret to say that my ancestors rode with Cromwell trying to destroy Ireland. One was a hero of the protestants in the North. But I fell in love with the country. Maybe we can all ride together in the next life.
