Anyone keeping up with what's happening in Hawaii? The folks there must be getting pretty concerned.

John Lawtzke is probably purchasing a Volcano pipe in recognition of the event! Seriously, the news showed a rock spitting out of a vent...from the distance, it might have been the size of a truck...scary stuff. Nice to live in Arizona..no earthquakes, no hurricanes, no tornadoes, blizzards, flooding is very rare, and no chiggers.

The oldest grandson told me he learned that all those islands were formed by volcanos. I told him that one of those was currently flowing lava out of it and he said, "Makes sense". Kids!

Dealing with a phenomena that literally melts everything in its path is horrific and hard for us mainlanders to comprehend let alone deal with.

Yeah...I imagine that a pindrop of lava can ruin your day, getting carbonized in an insant would be really bad. Two place that I heard of that would be castrophic on a magnatude like we have never seen is New Zealand and Yellowstone, if I remember correctly, both have large bodies of water above that would produce a tremendous explosion.....I think that I heard about it on the Art Bell show when he had a volcanologist in an interview.

I was in that area a couple of years ago and there were literally acres of new land covered in palm trees that were not there before the last eruption. The AirBnB where we stayed is right in the evacuation zone. Scary stuff, and I will all the best to the people around there.

Yellowstone Park is the world's largest caldera and has been seeing increased activity. That's the one to watch though there isn't much we can do about it if it blows one day.

A few months ago my son Cooper (he’s 8 years old) was asking if anything like this ever happened. I told him about ancient Pompeii. He wanted to know if that could happen again. Fast forward to now. Sometimes we forget how powerful Mother Nature can be.

Santorini is also a time bomb. When it went before it destroyed the world's most advanced civilization. The pending issue isn't an eruption, but half of the island is hanging by a thread, just waiting for one big shake to dump it into the sea. It will create a tsunami that will wipe out tens of millions.

See, while Ireland's weather sucks, we've none of those... Nothing poisonous, no snakes, scorpions, big spiders, bears, lions, tigers, etc.
No risk of earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, hurricanes, tornadoes, etc.
But even at that, I feel a draw to live and work for a while stateside.

I have lived here since 2005 and have yet to see a scorpion, and I am a scorpio! That JohnR though....mean as a viper, faster than a desert cougar...every pipe club meeting, Greg at the cigar shop has to sound out a warning to other customers. Don't mind the Scorpions, watch out for John!

I've been stung 4 times in the last year by Bark Scorpions ... building up super powers! Hardly finding them anymore though since I started going out with a black-light and machete every night.
