Gin and Pastis Ricard, 2:0.25 ounces, shaken over ice. Very refreshing if you like that sort of thing.

Port Carlshafen Texas Port, a gift from my friend's winery in Fredericksburg. Much improved from their first Port 25 years ago. 😎🤠😁

New converts are the worst. I just discovered Cheerwine. Where have I been all my life? I made myself a pitcher of Cheerwine Sangria. It will likely double my fruit consumption for the year! Does it have booze in it?

Does it have booze in it? Cheerwine is a popular cherry soda down South, contains no alcohol. Now mixed with a Sangria that’s an entirely different story 👌👍👍

It has not been hot enough to really merit sangria, but I had the Cheerwine, and some Spanish red wine, (recently gifted) and became inspired. I went out and got the rest of the stuff I needed. I got the recipe from Alton Brown's website. Ingredients 1 bottle of Spanish red wine (in this case Marques de Caceres Rioja Reserva 2014) 4 ounces Cointreau 2 ounces Courvoisier 1 teaspoon Fee Brothers cherry bitters 4 ounces peaches, chopped up. 4 ounces mango, chopped up. 8-10 basil leaves, torn up 2 oranges, one quartered and the other thinly sliced (why?) 2 cans Cheerwine. So I made something that looked an awful lot like the picture on the website, drank a goodly amount, and put the rest in the fridge. I think this will nearly triple my fruit consumption for the year. Diabetics take note, this will raise your blood sugar. Even using diet Cheerwine, Drink small amounts with plenty of protein. Rib eye steak will work well. In addition to raising your blood sugar it will kick your butt. Drink responsibly. My brother is proud of me. LOL

Making a mug of a Kona blend coffee from Lowe’s Foods. Their brands are of high quality and considered gourmet blends, I have to agree👌👍👍

Legend Lover.......I thought all wine was Cheerwine. Cheerwine is a sweet cherry soda sold in many Southern States. Contains no alcohol, sold to children of any age. Make a good mixer for many liquors.

My son and I are expected in the Catskills NY on Sunday morning to meet my brother for our annual family vacation. I don’t know if I can make it work but I appreciate it my man.

Mr. Mixology (my brother) is experimenting as well. As I have said elsewhere I am not a fan of fiddly drinks. I made the sangria, yea, so I am learning new tricks. But I made it in enough quantity that I have a pitcher in the fridge. The easy with which I can serve myself another sangria makes up for the initial fiddly-ness. Sort of distributes the fiddly-ness across many servings. I just tried something simple, Cheerwine and Old Grand Dad. Very nice. My brother says it can be improved with lemon or lime juice, but I have to weigh that against the burden of the drink having another step. I am not going to make this in quantity.

Enjoyed another variant of Pastis last night. This version is 1 ounce of Ricard, 2 ounces of an inexpensive French Vodka and 2 ounces of water, ice cubes. Very refreshing and a lighter anise flavor.

Currently enjoying a lovely shiraz. I really enjoy a good Shiraz, is it from Australia?? Before “ Jacobs Creek “ vineyard was sold it was “ the bomb “👌👍👍. Now this so called wine maker uses screw on caps....no corks. They also made a top notch Cab back in the 80’s and early 90’s!!!

Apparently it's from Africa. It's called, 'First Cape'. I purchased a bottle of First Cape a couple of years ago here in the States. Was a decent wine and sold for under $8.00 U S dollars a bottle. Haven’t seen it again locally. Worth the price👌👍👍
