Just got around to smoking this blend for the first time tonight. While being a fan of burley, I have to say this isn't an astounding blend for me. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but it just didn't blow my socks off. I'll work through my bag and see if it changes my mind, but at first blush, nutty, a bit chocolatey, and basically an average, par for the course burley. Cheers!

Try mixing the blend better in the pouch or tobacco tray. Also, I let the amount I’ll be smoking air dry for roughly 30 minutes. It’s best for me with at least 1 year of aging, much more complex......now I pick up the nuttiness of the Burley.

Legendlover, In fact not only was your review OK, I pretty much agree with it; although I won't go out of my way to buy more. My taste buds are too acclimated to HH ODF and Lat blends. Unless it has creosote and pine chips in it, I can't taste it I'm glad you can relate.

I had another bowl of this today, and I would like to add to my original review, that the moustache note from this blend is excellent. I can enjoy a lovely scent every time I breathe in through my nose as the air filters through the hairs in my moustache which have been coated in Amphora Original smoke.

I must be totally honest.....I’ve been really enjoying Amphora Original Blend far more then the MacBaron Burley Flake. I understand it’s two totally different blends but for me MacB BF is on the flat side, a bit to mild for my liking. So, I took the advice from JimInks and made a blend to kick it up a notch. I have MacB BF & Old Dark Fired well blended together ( 75% BF to 25% ODF ) in a Mason jar and in another week or so I will light up a bowl full and give it a try. They need to be married together for a while, will make a BIG difference 👍👍👍

It will be a non-aro that round.

Just a few more days to talk about this wonderful blend before we move on to the white knight. Anyone else got anything to say about it?

Just a few more days to talk about this wonderful blend before we move on to the white knight. Anyone else got anything to say about it? Other then I’m really enjoying this pouch tobacco and stocked up enough for the rest of my life, I still prefer this blend mixed better in a tobacco tray and broken up a bit and air dry for about an hour ( if fresh ) before stuffing my pipe. I gave a pouch of this to AJ and I believe he also enjoyed the complexity. Some pipe smokers don’t care for the newer release but the pouches I have are a couple of years old. I have 6 pint sized Mason jars dated for my future smoking pleasure, besides a number still in the pouch👍👍👍
if WhiteKnight is next months blend we’ll be discussing I will definitely have much too also say!!! However, I do prefer the more robust, stronger a bit....BlackHouse! A buddy of mine closed his B&M on Long Island about 3 years ago and I purchased every tin of both of these tasty blends @ his cost.

Guys, I had no clue what Amphora Original was when I picked it. I wanted something readily available and relatively inexpensive. I found it going through smokingpipes top selling tins.
Meanwhile , last week, I actually thought someone else chose it! This unknown blend is now part of the rotation! If not for our BOM, I would be missing out.
@lonecoyote I’m going to buy more for the future. Do you jar it, or keep them in pouches?
I’m looking forward to Sunday: The month of WhiteKnight begins!

Well, all I can add to this charming forum is exactly what exbenedict had to say. I will finish my pouch by mixing it with some dark fired blends I have that are like a blazing hay rick full of sawdust. It should tone them down nicely. Now, next month, we're in my hangar with White Knight. I have about 10 tins, so I'm in good shape.

This is one I definitely wouldn't have picked up on my own. I've really enjoyed it throughout the month and I grab for it whenever I want a smoke, but dont know what I really want.
I'll add a few pouches of this in future orders just to have around.
I'm looking forward to white knight. I've wanted to try it before it was chosen for the BoM but have refrained from doing so. Tick, tock, tick, tock....

Sam, don’t know if you spotted my thread above you, so here’s the answer to your question:
I have 6 pint sized Mason jars dated for my future smoking pleasure, besides a number still in the pouch👍👍👍 I just counted a spreadsheet from a cloud service and have 14 still in the pouch. When I’m ready to open another pouch I remove the tobacco and mix well in a 2” deep small tray and seal with a Ziplock bag that’s labeled. Guess I’m anal retentive.....lol. To me that’s far better then being receptive! Also, I break up the blend a bit before stuffing my pipe. For me the Dark Fired Kentucky brings this fine blend together. If it’s on the moist side I let air dry for roughly 30 minutes.

Okay, I’m ready to open another pouch of Amphora Original and wanted to share how I store a blend that’s used daily. I now have 7 pint sized Mason jars stuffed and dated with this extremely enjoyable blend. After mixing the blend well it’s stored as pictured below....

Pick whatever you want, preferably something readily available. I think November is supposed to be a non-aro

I have been smoking it about once a day, had a bowl last night as hubby and I sat out. I don't detect any chocolate at all (not that I mind, I don't really want chocolate in my tobacco, lol) About all I get is Kentucky, I think. Hubby said he detected a peppery smell, so I assume that is perique. I like it, I just don't seem to get all the nuances everyone else does. Everyone’s palate and Ph differs, mix the blend well and break it up a bit ( MIX WELL TOGETHER ) and let dry for about 30 minutes. You should notice a big difference. You might like it so much that you and your husband one day will make me a good breakfast consisting of Virginia ham steak and eggs with grits and hush puppies....LOL.
