Not really a knife guy per se...I would rather have a gun in a fight...hell, if it's deadly force, I want to be the deadliest. I do have bayonets specific to the age of My M1 Garand's and M1 Carbine's. Top two are M7's (Garand's) Got my father's M7 from Th Big One just like those. Who knows maybe they just passed them out upon his discharge. Have his paratrooper wings as well. He always spoke of the war in somewhat broad historical terms or made cracks about the English nurses after breaking his leg jumping. When Alzheimers came on the shite starting coming back to him leading me to believe he might have saw much more action then he ever indicated. Thanks for the photos trailboss.

That is pretty cool..mine have no such provenance. Them guys were tough old birds, they certainly earned the title of the greatest generation. My brother just opened up to me about Vietnam, he was in the Navy I assumed that he never saw squat as far as combat...I guess I was wrong...sad to see that this stuff haunted him all these years...I guess it is a trans-generational thing in some regards, you just want to forget about it, but it never really leaves you. A toast to your father, wish I could have met him.

I’ve used this knife on plugs, it’s a hollow point grind. A flat grind knife I find cuts plugs cleaner with less effort. I use a pocket cleaver most of the time because the blades have the perfect grind. I have a very limited edition Justin Wilson Ulu Knife that has a razors edge, does a great job cutting through plugs effortlessly..I don’t have pictures on this device so I took screen shots and cropped them from Amazon, where I purchased my two. Two price ranges as well. The bottom knife is under $11.00, even has a frame lock with almost a 3” blade. The top knife is a much higher end cleaver for just under $85.00. Has a 3.5” blade. Both knives get the job done 👍👍👍

My knife habit/addiction can sometimes be a little bank-busting. Right now I'm on a waiting list for a Mark Lesniewski knife (ML knives) that ran me a little more than I care to admit to my wife. It's a year waiting list since he has so many backorders. I have 3 months left! He's worth looking into. On top of being a very talented blacksmith, he's a real nice guy who takes care of his customers. I'm getting the Short Hunter (+) some custom stuff www.ml-knives.com/order-a-knife-2/ I also have a lot of respect for Condor Knife and Tool. Affordable knives that can take a STUPID amount of abuse! Their Eco Parang is my go to machete/shovel/ax/bacon flipper. I'm also trying to rationalize buying their Hudson Bay knife...but don't tell my wife.

Condor Knife & Tool make some very well crafted knives and use excellent quality leather for their sheaths. I own 2 Condors. One I was not satisfied how the handle was finished, so I sanded, stained and finished off with 8 coats of Tung Oil. They use high carbon steel in their blade steel, so just make sure you keep a thin coat of oil on the blade. If storing fixed blade knives for a long period of time, never store the knife in its sheath. Moisture forms quickly!!! All their knives come extremely sharp, so be careful. For me, they make the best fixed blade knife for the money 👍👍👍

A real beauty that’s extremely functional......meaning it can be an all purpose camping/hunting knife. In the black area of the knife did the maker use a peening method or just acid/stonewashed? Also, what is the handle material made from, a real eye catcher 👍👍👍

Last year Lonecoyote gave me one of his handcrafted Chef’s Knives. It’s a joy to behold and such a pleasure to use. I first used it to carve our Thanksgiving turkey then to carve our Christmas Country Ham. It’s so sharp one can easily carve slices so thin you can actually see light pass through them. No one, and I mean no one touches that knife but me. It’s mine and like my pipes, tobacco, and wife I don’t share. Only Ted knows for sure the number of hours he spent making this knife, but one can easily tell that a ton of effort was dedicated to creating a flawless piece of work. Maybe one day I’ll tell you about the magnificent pipe he made and gave me.

Your a giving, kind hearted person that deserves to be treated like a 👑 King 👑. You’ve been extremely generous towards me, that’s what friends do 👍👍👍 Enjoy in good health, Ted

Until I take a photo of the knife Ted made for me, feast your eyes on this beauty custom made for me by another knife maker on another forum. Just stick it in and walk around them. It was named the Oregon Raindrop. That’s a genuine opal mounted on the blade. AJ

Beautiful knife.
At the risk of going Ridgemont high speak..
Badassery at it’s best with the tiger striped wood grain and the Damascus steel, and gems to boot.... pretty gnarly!

No pics right now, but I have a few everyday carries. Nothing special. I usually buy a new one to add to my collection on vacation. It's sort of becoming a collection. SOG Fielder SOG Twitch II CRKT Ignitor with serration Kershaw Zing Kershaw Cryo 2 I've toyed with the idea of making my own, but pipes have taken over the hobby portion of my life right now. I have a lot of cooking knives. Mostly all Wusthof Classic. They've served me very well. I also have a Cryo 2. Great little knife for minimal scratch.

I just hate it when autocorrect changes something and I don’t catch it. The Irish knife maker that’s listed above as Smith was originally typed as Smyth. The degeneration of cognizant awareness is another joy of growing old. 🙄
