I also use a ceramic stick sharpener on my recurve blades. I also quit buying recurve blades Yes, the handle on that cleaver is drop-dead gorgeous. I know but that Boker Magnum is just so dang cool.

Some of the makers in Pakistan are truly MASTER knife makers, especially the old timers that care to maintain the quality of their craft. Any of the Pakistan knives made with A1, D2 or old 5160 leaf spring steel will last a few lifetimes. But from the newer generation I’ve seen some real 💩 crap 💩! Last year I threw a newer knife made in Pakistan into a soft white birch tree. As soon as I heard the knife hit the tree and penetrate the wood I heard that infamous high pitch “ ping “! Before walking over I knew the blade split, which it did. I checked the Rockwell hardness at 49, the knife was not properly heat treated and tempered. If you leave a thin coat of a good gun CLP the blade will not rust, plus don’t store the knife long term in the sheath. Happy knife collecting 👍👍👍

I know. My Cold Steel Vaquero Grande is a full 6½" serpent tongue recurve, fully serrated, with a handle just as long, and looks cool, though fairly useless. I have cut bread with it... It's a flat grind, or was from the factory. Now it's probably more of a wiggle grind.

A touch-up with a Japanese white ceramic rod and a will be good enough until I get room for my paper wheels. Thanks for input.

My dad owns a really nice cold steel tonto knife. He found it on the side of the road while walking with my stepmom. I can't say I've EVER been that lucky. Must be that old-man luck

Just took my Tracker/Hunting knife to the garage and sharpened the blade and used my Baldor bench grinder with two types of buffing wheels and two different compounds. Notice the Damascus steel used in making the front and rear bolsters. Also the handle scales are made from dyed bone and some nice looking filed brass inlay work. This traveled with me through deserts and jungles and has seen more than it’s fair share of work, never failed to complete a job! Another of my high quality made in Pakistan Hunting knives with the original sheath which I just softened with leather soap and finished off with bee’s wax.....it’s good to go👌👍 Forgot too mention, cost me just under $40.00 US dollars purchased in the Middle East. I’ve seen many copies but I’m sure they would not have lasted through the rigorous use of this Tracker!

Must be that old-man luck There can't be a good reason for a knife like that to be on the side of the road. Probably best not to know the history. Mine rarely leaves the house.

I'm guessing it was left on the bumper/top of someones truck...but I guess odds are just as good that it was used in a gruesome crime. Not sure my dad would care either way. A free knife is a good knife.

My Walther PPK.....it’s been on a few gun forums and I’ve been offered a pretty penny for the piece. Of course it’s not for sale, it has a meaning close to my heart ❤️! Use to jam all the time, a few years back I did a complete rebuild and a trigger kit..,has not jammed since. Just noticed yours is a .32 instead of a .380. In ball form, virtually identical terminal ballistics, and much, much nicer to shoot. You have a very sweet pistol there. The .32 blued versions are just classy, and the true Bond guns. Don't let the "there are more modern designs" argument make you decide to part with it... but if you do, you know where to find me. Personally, I don't use my PPK much anymore (stainless .380), but wouldn't sell it for all the tea in China.

Dave, it’s a pistol that I’m leaving to my only grandson. Thank you for your kind words, it’s now a pleasure too look at as well as shoot👍👍👍
PS Any older PPK is worth BIG money, hand yours down and keep it in the family.

Back on Long Island, we were surrounded by beaches and the ocean. Any given day during the warm weather once the majority of people left, all you’d see are a number of people sweeping up and back on the sands of the beach using their metal detectors, long metal pole with a metal meshed tin can attached digging around the sands. Once when I was on the beach at Smith Point Park 2 separate “ sand sweepers “ yelled out “ jack-pot “, this guy found someone’s engagement ring. I told him to take the ring to the police station up the road, papers would be made out properly and the ring goes in their lost and found for 6 months and if not claimed by the rightful owner it’s yours, legally. This a$$hole looks at me and says “ are you f- -kin kidding me, one of those cops would claim it “! I told him that’s NOT how it works. This guy could care less if the ring went back to this woman who was most likely crying her eyes out. If it were me, the ring would have been dropped off at the police station and I’d wait the 6 months, I couldn’t have lived with myself if done any other way! Some people could care less!!! Oh, that’s another reason why I’d much rather deal with dogs👍👍👍

Congratulations Don, enjoy the new to you puukko knife. That blade when sharpened properly will be capable of giving you a close shave! Also the steel used usually has an HRC of 58 to 60 and will retain its edge quite well “ if “ used properly. A knife is a tool, like any other tool if not maintained and used for the purpose it was intended for it will not serve you well. I’m sure you’ve heard that before and know how to use a knife. When you have time take a picture or two and post here, thanks. 👍👍
