Hello friends,
Has there been any word from BAT lately about Dunhill? Is it still really the end? Will Dunhill's blends still be available in the UK after they're no longer exported to the US by BAT?
I'm beginning to notice the bulk blends disappear online, which is worrisome. I just bought a pound of Nightcap. May need to buy some EMP and 965 soon, too.
Its really sad to see Strang, McClelland and some of our favourite brands vanish as time goes on. I am very glad that C&D is here, because they have filled the void that the McClelland tins left for me. I honestly worry about the future of our hobby sometimes.

Stock up now on your favorite Dunhill tobacco’s because by December of this year the blend will no longer be manufactured and you’ll be paying top dollar from non smoking pipe jerks just out to make a huge profit. Spend a few bucks now and save plenty in the future......good luck👌👍

I thought they were already out of production, but they planned for a year's inventory. I'm okay with it, as Sutliff Match Nightcap is fine and their others seem to have many alternatives in other brands

PS In 5 years from now Dunhill Nightcap will be selling for $40.00 plus per tin. 8 oz of Penzance just sold on eBay for $345.00. So, you know what will happen to ALL the tinned Dunhill tobacco’s in the long run!

What I read this December production would halt completely..

So, you know what will happen to ALL the tinned Dunhill tobacco’s in the long run! Yeah thats the problem with me. I am into vintage technology and some of the computers I got for free or at yard sales for $10 now sell for $800+, but I can't bring myself to sell them. I am too emotionally invested in them. Same with my hotwheels cars and some of my horror VHS tapes from the 80s. I have no idea how I am going to get all of this stuff to Thailand. Gradually, I suppose, over the course of several flights. But I imagine I'll be smoking all of my Dunhill tins eventually. Even if I could pull a 400% profit, I just couldn't live with myself.

Business meetings had me up near Raleigh today. On the way home I ran by JR's Cigar Lounge and Humidor in Selma. I was fortunate enough to find a couple more tins of MM965. I also picked up a couple of tins of Three Nuns (I've never tried it) as well as a box of Arturo Fuente 858's.
All in all a good day.

I started stocking up two years ago when Dunhill moved ALL tobacco and related products from their stores and into the White Spot stores. At that time I read an article in a friends in Mens Wear Daily about how Dunhill was going to stop handling ANY tobacco related products and just focus on it's high end goods. I don't know about the pipes but a friend ( my attorney actually) just got back from London with a new White Spot pipe and nowhere on it was Dunhill to be found! Sadly, the only constant in life is change !

The 858’s has always been one of my top 10 favorite cigars...not to shabby of a day for you....congratulations 🎊🎉🎈

Glad to see JR's not taking too much advantage of folks.

I was told that Dunhill stopped production last December and when the current stock is gone, there won't be any more. I assume that someone could buy the rights and start up production again.

Dino my friend, you did get a bargain, good for you 👌👍👍 Last time I stopped at J&R they were selling Rattray’s for close to $28.00 for the 3.5 oz tin..I passed and stocked up with Smokingpipes last shipment. Now it’s mostly off the shelves. Rattray’s will eventually follow suit. Enjoy your haul.

You know how it is, a lot of times products have a really cool package, but the product just sucks. but Nightcap has to have one of the coolest tins around, and I was drawn to it immediately when I was in the tobacco shop, many years ago. But the product was just as cool as the tin! I was immediately impressed! What's this, not sweet, but so complex and satisfying! I was hooked!

I also enjoy Dunhill Nightcap, but only the tin version. The bulk version is horrendous, makes me sick to my stomach every time! So, bulk is definitely not the same as tinned tobacco’s....but I’ve been told differently in the past by two well known blenders.

So, bulk is definitely not the same as tinned tobacco’s....but I’ve been told differently in the past by two well known blenders. I think there is a slight difference between bulk and tinned. Ive always preferred the tinned NC, but I'm just happy having a lot of it in my possession, so I won't ever lose it. I wasn't sure if I was going to by Squadron Leader or the NC, but I just had to buy the NC because I know SG will probably re-release the SL. The future of NC is very uncertain. I think the difference between bulk and tinned NC may simply be the way it is handled and stored, honestly. The stomach issue.. Sounds honestly like nicotine! The bulk may have locked in the nicotine more, and I have no idea how that could be. Perhaps if you let the bulk air out for awhile you may discover you love it as much as the tinned. For me, I always prefer my NC a bit on the dry side. It really tastes SO GOOD when it feels almost too dry. When I smoke my NC just as damp as I like my London Squire and Kramer's Cary Grant, I don't like it at all! So strange!

Not only did I let the bulk version dry, which was extremely moist.....I preheated the oven to 200 Fahrenheit spread the bulk tobacco out on a cookie sheet shut the oven off with the tobacco in the center of the oven and just let the tobacco sit for roughly an hour. For me was still not a decent smoking tobacco. So, it was sent to a new home👍

Sounds almost like a bad batch. This is the first time I haven't bought my bulk NC from the tobacco store, and thats because he puts a good premium on it, and I am buying a lot. Hey, the guy has to stay in business somehow. But when I buy my NC in the jar, in store, it tastes roughly the same as the tin, to me. If theres any differences, they're only minor. BAT should have handled this, and exchanged that tobacco for you.

The online retailer said it was a BAT issue and BAT sent me an email stating the retailer needs to take it back and send it to us, that I understand. However, the online retailer would not get involved so guess what...that was my second major strike with this retailer and after 15 plus years they lost a customer! By the way it was 2 pounds I purchased because of the sale price, roughly 2 years ago.

I have only ever smoked the tinned version of Dunhill Nightcap. It's wonderful, but I've no idea what the bulk is like. I have no problem imagining that it could be quite different due to packaging.

I've gotta get myself done mm965 before it's too late. I've heard good things about that.

When the remaining Dunhill inventory runs out, it’s over. Due to the new FDA and European counterpart rules, another company can no longer produce new blends. Under the guidelines, if C&D (or anyone else) were to produce London Mixture (or any other Dunhill blend), it would be considered a new blend, different from STG produced LM.

Sam, that’s 110% correct. But I will say for all of you that SHOULD be stocking up on some of your Dunhill favorites, Smokingpipes has a large selection and you can purchase up to 10 tins per day. That tells me they have a decent stock pile👍

The good news is Hilands will likely continue to produce their matches of the big three Dunhill brands after the stock runs dry. I may switch over to this eventually.

Also, has anyone here tried C&D's "Good Morning"? Supposed to be their match of EMP.
