Ok, since I chose Sweet Kilarney, I suppose it's fitting that I go first.
When I opened the tin and took a few sniffs, I could sense quite a fruity aroma in this blend. I'm assuming this is cased in something - maybe not, but regardless, it smells great in the tin.
The tobacco in my tin was quite wet, so I did the '10s in the microwave' trick and it dried it out nicely but not too much.
I loaded it up in a mm Legend Rob Roy and set it on fire.
I could detect a real sweetness in the smoke. Even though I smoked it outside, the room note for this would be superb - it's one to smoke in public. It might even turn the hard-core anti-tobacco lobbyists into pipe-lovers (or at least into Legend Lover lovers).
I tried to think of what was in the smoke - best I can think of was buttered pop-corn. It was lovely.
Half way down the bowl it went out so I dumped the ash, stirred and re-lit (never tried this before - I think after half a bowl of tamping, a stir to loosen up the tobacco helped me). Anyway, at that point the buttered pop-corn gave way to more of a nutty flavour - possibly a hint of marzipan. This was also very nice and remained until the bowl was done.
For an aromatic, I like it. It's definitely sweet and it's definitely an aromatic. You know the way you get some blends that are labelled 'aromatic' but there isn't much of an 'aroma' in the smoke - this is definitely aroma-tic. I'd say it might get sickening after a few bowls in a row. I would call it a 'desert smoke', so it would be one I'd go to when I'm in the mood.
For an aromatic I think it hits the spot.

Buttered popcorn and marzipan! It sounds great for going to the movies.

This stuff smells good in the tin and smells great as a burns. The flavor is just not there for me. Could be because I'm getting over being sick. Now that the pipe is out, the smell still lingers on my clothes 15 minutes later. It's a sweet caramel/hazelnut scent which I dont mind at all. Creamy thick smoke, no bite. It left my mouth bone dry as well.
I'll revisit this in a day or 2 when im feeling 100%. This is just my initial take on it.
Smoked in a MM Legend

Let’s just say it’s a blend I’ve smoked in the past, it’s one aromatic I vowed that would never touch my palate again! Definitely dried my mouth completely as does Lane 1Q for some odd reason. Most likely a Ph issue??

Excellent review Legend Lover. I'm looking forward trying it. Buttered popcorn sounds interesting.

Excellent review Legend Lover. I'm looking forward trying it. Buttered popcorn sounds interesting. please don't take my word for it. I might be the complete opposite to that. For all I know it might taste like the inside of an athlete's running shoe.

Also, roadsdiverged, in another thread you said you were waiting for your Sweet Kilarney to dry. Did you find it overly moist too?

Excellent review Legend Lover . I'm looking forward trying it. Buttered popcorn sounds interesting. LL, forgot too mention, you must be in a theater to get that buttered popcorn taste and aroma. PS LL, everyone’s palate may/can pick up different flavors in any given tobacco blend. That’s why this hobby is so subjective 👍👍

So you can taste more than "just smoke"! Or is it just a very strongly flavored aro? I have a tin on the way, by the way.

Also, roadsdiverged, in another thread you said you were waiting for your Sweet Kilarney to dry. Did you find it overly moist too? Yes! I let it dry for almost an hour. It was still springy, but it was no longer wet! The other day when I was getting some out to send Sam, I realized how wet it was so I left the lid of the tin off for about 2 hours. It's still pretty damp.

When I have a mouthful of smoke and sit there trying to taste something, I get nothing... Not even the taste of smoke. But thanks for noticing, @chico.

We had Mexican food which is supposed to be spicy, but I got nothing. I ended up putting so much hot sauce on it thatI got dizzy, which was just made worse by trying to cool off with beer.....

Just had my first smoke out of my tin. Didn't have time to sit down and study it but fist take is:
Holy Butterscotch, Batman!
I'll spend some time with it later...
More to follow.

I know that this may sound strange, but I don't try to taste the smoke itself. I try to taste the flavors that are left in my mouth after the smoke is gone.
This tobacco, however, was butterscotch immediately upon putting the match to it. Not that it was a bad thing, but I'll look for some nuance later

Thank you, antb. I wouldn't go that far, but you're kind to say so. I find it so hard to detect anything, I suppose strong flavours (either latakia or strong casing) helps the tastes to rise above my detection threshold, so I appreciate blends like this a bit better because I can detect something else when I'm smoking.

Anyone else ready to give their thoughts? None in my cellar. I did however notice that the latest batches available in the EU has the "Sweet" in the name deleted by the nannies. Now known as Peterson's Killarney.

Here we go again with Rattray’s Exotic Passion! From what I see the only “ fruits “ are those European nannies I read about on the Patch😝😜😂

I appear to have chosen a lemon. I don't think this is a blend that many want to try.

Not really. Ha! I don't to smoke too many aromatics and those that I smoke tend to be a bit more subtle. I have a few that have more topping that I have tried and stashed away, but I tend to bypass them when I'm looking for a smoke.
When I get a chance to sit down and take my time and think about it, I'll load a bowl of Sweet Killarney and give it some thought.
