Hi,
I am just a little surprised by the lack of discussion on this board about c&d. I personally love the company and their tins are almost second to none now, especially with McClelland and Dunhill going away, at least for me. Sure I love some of my sutliff blends and I love GH and I also dearly love Peter Stokkebyes.
However C&D is home to many of my go to blends. Including
Pirate kake Founding fathers Star of the east flake Autumn evening Opening night Haunted bookshop Golden days of yore (back in Stock on SP by the way) Rajahs court Billy budd Old Joe krantz Midnight drive
.. And many others I've tried and loved and will return to. And far too many on my list I've not even tried yet. So how about we show them some love. They're a great great great company.

I've heard good things about c&d. If I'm ever in the states I might stock up on some.

Have smoked all of the above C&D blends, a few in bulk which were excellent. Since late 2016 I’ve had some serious mold issues with 2 different tinned C&D tobacco’s....over a dozen tins. Since I’ve purchased in bulk: Billy Budd regular and blonde, Old Joe Krantz, Star of the East and Red Odessa.....all superb blends and no mold. C&D has a number of outstanding blends👍👍👍
PS I have plenty of Black Frigate tinned from prior then 2015

I'm a big fan of Haunted Bookshop, Pegasus, Old Joe Krantz, and Billy Budd Blonde, in that order. I end every day with one of those blends. I'm looking forward to trying Redburn in the near future too. IMHO, C&D is the King of Burley!

Red Odessa and Bayou Night are 2 of my top 5 favorites. I also have a few others by C&D and they are great tobaccos. There are some others made by them that are on my wish list. Also, I could make due if they were the only company that produced pipe tobacco. But since that's not the case, Peter Stokkebye, Sutliff and Lane help round things out.

I'll throw in Gentleman Caller, Granby Station, Bayou Morning, Crooner, Pegasus, and Autumn Evening. I have a few more in my stash that I need to try. Some I have are definite stinkers right now, that I'm hoping some age will fix.

It’s the Bijou that turned me off to C&D tin tobacco’s, had a total of 8 with serious mold with only a few months of aging. The tins swelled up like a baseball. Anyone here smoke the blend and enjoy it???

Outside of the couple of MacB HH blends I smoke, C&D is my most smoked stuff. I could live with only them if they were the only blender. For me, it's: Engine 99 Byzantium SOTE flake 10 Russians Super Balkan Plus a few of their blending tobacs

I have to admit that there's been a dent in my C&D hate. I did some blind reviews on another forum and there were a couple I liked. But it also confused me because one I enjoyed was Red Odessa. I already had a sample of RO and did not enjoy it, and it looks, smells, and tastes like a completely different blend from the sample I recently smoked. The cut, the composition, everything. I also have samples of Star of the East from 2 different sources, and they also seem very different. I need to do side-by-side taste tests of these. The only other time I've seen such a difference was with SPC Deception Pass, but I assume that was due to one being from the original manufacturer.

Chico, chances are if those samples were from P&C originally, the wrong blend was shipped...no joke!

I buy Rajah’s Court by the 1/2 lb can and have about 4 lbs cellared. That should tell you my answer. ;-) :-) It’s a very, very good Oriental forward mild English. Someone who likes Lane LEO, Germain Eighteen Twenty, or Rattray’s Red Rapparee will like this easier to find blend. For most C&D blends, I recommend a minimum of 12 months of age because they ship their tins too young. However, for Rajah’s Court you can do a minimum of 6 months, IMHO. I am a tried and true McC fan boy. A few years ago, when they found that out, a couple Laudisi reps and Jeremy Reeves made it their mission to educate me on C&D blends. I now have several C&D favorites and C&D is the second largest holding in my cellar behind McC; about 27 lbs.

After a year, it’s just pancakes.

My favorite C&D blends that I've cellared:
Bijou Carolina Red Flake Crooked Lane Good Morning Interlude Opening Night Pegasus Professor Rajah's Court Yorktown
Also, a home blend that I call Pegasus River which is a blend of 2 parts Pegasus to 1 part C&D Green River Vanilla
Then there are a few C&D manufactured blends:
Kramer's Father Dempsey GLP Embarcadero GLP Union Square
I've been starting to look at trying a few blends in the Two Friends line from C&D. I currently have open a tin of Two Friends Redwood. I've only had a few bowls so far, but am finding it an interesting take on a VaPer. The stoved red Va is center stage and the Perique is just a minor player in the background. Although I don't smoke many aros (only about 5), I am tempted to try Two Friends English Chocolate next.

For some it just fades and for others the topping degrades to just a pure over-the-top intense sweet with no flavor other than the sweet sensation. However, there are exceptions to the rule. One of the reasons that I love Arrowhead Pipe Club Mixture from Paul's Pipe Shop (besides being a member of Arrowhead and unpaid shop help (I've been promoted from shop regular ) is that it ages fantastically. I've had Arrowhead up to 10 years old. Smooth as ice cream. I've also found Heinrich's Reserve Crue #2 and #4 for hold their flavor as they age. However, I haven't had any more than a couple years old, yet.

I have an open 1 year old tin I'll bring to Columbus. Its pretty good not an overly done topping but its definitely a rich smoke compared to other english blends. I have a third of the two friends but can't remember which.

I'll have to check out Rajah's Court. And I'll really try not to compare it to the incomparable Bombay Court.

C&D and I kinda grew up in the active hobby at the same time and I loved they were a small family company that supported the shows but I never found anything I liked. Someone posted about loosing interest in a mixture half way through the bowl and GLP's Abingdon was the second mixture I thought of. Now that they are run by a hipster who was delivering pizza's a week before he became a "master blender" and they no longer support the shows other than CPCC I have no interest other than if the dozens of GLP tins I have in the davecave are rusting from the inside out. Good thing I gave up on them before the mold issues or I have that to worry about.

Epiphany has been in my regular rotation for quite a while now. Opening Night is very good Va. I’d definitely have more of this one if I didn’t have more McClelland Va than I’ll ever smoke.
