Recently I made a rather large order with Pipes & Cigars. I know they have had some issues before and my few shopping experiences with them have been okay. I have only ordered just enough to cover free shipping and so the smaller boxes were packed fine but could have been better. This time around, combining three various discount codes they had going on, I made a pretty big order because the savings were damn good. Today the box arrived and this is how it came. What you don’t see is the little amount of packing material that they used to try and protect these items. Products were thrown around and while most things came in undamaged, three items weren’t so lucky. I lost a German clay pipe, a bulk bag of tobacco and a can of Brigadier Black: Alamo. I called them and had to wait on hold for about five minutes before I spoke to someone. They were nice enough and able to take care of the issue and are sending me out replacements. The only downside is I have to hold on to the entire box, the packing and the damaged items for 30 days in case they request them for inspection themselves. I guess that’s fine though I’m not really inclined to wanting to hold on to these for so long when in the end the issue was clearly the packing. They could have easily used a smaller box to pack the items together better and more packing material to protect them. Bottom line, I will continue to use them only for when they are having sales that are really good and for items that I can’t buy elsewhere. For the most part, my go-to place will remain Smoking Pipes.

I believe @cosmicbobo had a similar thing happen to him a couple of months ago.
This isn't doing much for their reputation, even if they ARE trying to get back on track.

If I received a box like that, it would be NO MORE BUSINESS FROM ME!

Disappointing, for sure. In this day, there's no excuse for poor packaging regardless of the discount. I've seen better packaging from private eBay sellers.

Sorry that happened to you, guess their shipping Dept. is not any better. Hope you took a picture and sent it to P&C customer service. I’d never do business with them now or in the future. GOOD LUCK👍👍

Not only are they not pipe oriented people, I suspect the majority of their staff are nonsmoker's, just stuffing 'product' into cheap/thin boxes.

I told them I took pictures but she said it wasnt needed. Guess she hears it often. They are replacing the items though and I've learned a lesson. Based on my smaller orders, if I keep it small the packing is much better. Theres a few things they have that I like so from time to time I'll place an order but it's going to be small.

They have gotten my last business. I ordered some Warhorse Bar 3+ weeks ago. Was assured by 2 customer service reps that it was being held for me as they were getting the rest of my order together. THEY LIED! Plain and simple...they lied through their teeth. While their products are good, I can't abide being lied to. Was a customer of many years. Once I get the Warhorse, I am done with them. I'll be sending an email to the VP of customer service to explain my decision...not that they care.

I wouldn’t place an order with P&C if they had a 75% off sale. I’d most likely get the wrong tobacco’s plus a pipe that’s damaged and should not have been shipped!! It happened to me to often, I got tired of grabbing my ankles😜😜

Fingers crossed the only time I touch my ankles is while putting socks on.

Does Russ Ouellette still have ties with P&C??? Last I read he’s been learning the fine craft of wine making. He’s a realist, more of a long future in the wine industry then tobacco’s for sure.

I get lectured whenever I say anything about this. I can say no more I’d keep my mouth shut if they sponsored the BriarPatch. We’re not bashing the company, just speaking the truth. Everyone can draw their own conclusion.

I'll continue to buy from P&C, but I remain disappointed for the HH MacBaren jar that arrived shattered due to poor packaging. I've only had good experiences from their customer service folks and they tried to make things right. I'm just not sure why these issues keep happening in the first place. As a small business owner, I would think the losses on breakage would prompt changes in the shipping department.

Again and again I hear sad stories about P&C and have some of my own that are worse and I just can't stop wondering WHY Anyone wishes to do business with a company that clearly doesn't give a hoot in hell about there customers and continues to prove it on a regular basis. They've been history for me for a very long time from the stunt they pulled on me. I'm not in the habit of sticking my hand back in the fire after I've already got burn once. They had there chance to prove themselves to me and failed miserably, one is all they get and might I add one is all anybody gets. Screw me once shame on you, screw me twice shame on me.

I'm not too sure but there are blends of his that I really enjoy and only P&C has them. Pretty curious what he could do with wine though I like cider more. I’d love to see what he would do with that. Well, they have been my go-to since I picked up the pipe again 5 years ago. My only complaint has been slightly slow shipping. That said, I have seen a lot of this and I am motivated by CoJs and Tobacco Pipes faster delivery and excellent service. I have a good supply of blends that are unique to P&C like CBK.

Odd. It's got to be that they have some shipping people that are careful, and some that are not. I recently got a backorder from them that was just 4 ounces of bulk tobacco, and it came in a huge box surrounded by bubble pack. Doubtless part of the problem is that they share shipping facilities with a cigar only company, Famous Smokes. Not much concern about slapping a couple wooden cigar boxes any old way in a carton.

It seems, to me at least, that as soon as I start regaining my confidence in P&C, they come up with another mind-boggling way to utterly disappoint me. And it's always "in stock" items that magically go "out of stock" or "backordered" the very next day after I place an order. Few days would go by and after placing a call I learn that I'm not getting any tins. I swear it a same thing for about 4 years. The best one happened about 2 years ago. I, actually, received a shipping notification with a tracking number and a very next day my order status changed from "shipped" to "processing". Latest episode happened last week. Saga continues...

I haven't placed a large order with them in a year and a half. Of course I haven't had a need to place a large order with anyone, so I resist their big sales. But I have had no problems with a few small orders and those have come through in fine shape.

I ordered from them for the first time last year when they had a good sale on Dunhill tins (10 tins of Royal Yacht) and they were packed loose and in a box 5 times the size needed and don't know why but one tin came open and there was tobacco all in the box. They made it good after 5 weeks and dozens of phone calls and for me I;ll NEVER order ANYTHING from them again!

I am glad that everyone else has played the part of bad luck Schleprock....I have never had an issue with damaged merchandise, just a few mess ups on getting the right product in the carton, but it has always worked in my favor. Just messing with you guys, but I have actually profited from any mishaps.
