Today the wife told me...."honey, there's water under the kitchen sink! I look, not so bad, it looks like the garbage disposal rusted out and is dripping when the faucet is on. Off to Lowe's hardware, get a Badger 1/2 HP unit and head to register 9/10... there is one person in each line, and the customers share the same narrow aisle, I stand back a bit and straddle both for which one opens next. A guy and his wife come up..."Pick a lane" he tells me, I said "I already did, whichever one opens up next is my lane...it works better that way, first come first serve."...I said it in a really nice way. Him and his wife do the Harrumph chorus after 5 seconds, he is so pissed that he asked her.."Can we do with out this, I don't want to have to wait"..She said rightly but in a disgruntled tone...'Well we made the trip here, we might as well wait as long as it takes." As I walked away, i heard him say something about an asshole to the cashier, but I had my 9 MM on me (concealed) and the last thing I need to do is end up in an argument with someone of that low character and possibly being perceived as escalating a situation.

Charlie, you made the right decision....if you have the β responsibility β of carrying a pistol for personal protection you just walk away from a$$holes like you ran into. One β slightly β wrong word from your mouth the situation could of escalated real fast....your the better personπππ

I hear you guys, but even if I wasn't packing a firearm, my reaction would be the same. If I had to engage every piss ant I encounter, I would get nothing done.

What a tube. The wait time would have been less for him if he waited for you to chose your line and they went to the other one which should have been next.
Some people...
You did well just to walk away.

You did well just to walk away. Driving a big truck, accessibility sometimes limits my dining choices, I cannot count the times that I have waited my turn at a fast food place, and someone that looks like they once starred on the Jerry Springer show walks in with their family loud and obnoxious...grabs the attention of the cashier that only wants to get them herded out of the order area and looks past me as they make eye contact with them and say "can I help you?" If I have the audacity to say "Hey, I am next", you would think that I made the most severe social faux pas. I tend to pack a lunch more often than not.

Patience is a a lost virtue. Does a few minutes really impact one's life at a Lowe's? I think not. Your restraint is to be admired.

I was the butt of some pranks on one of my jobs. I did two things right. I went to someone on the night shift, asking his advice on pistols, telling him to keep it quiet, something beyond this guy's ken. Within a week people could see me in my car polishing a .45 1911 at lunch. People who really knew me smiled. The rest did an about face when I was in sight. Then, I was told I was top vote to go postal. Time to chill. I own a slingshot now. I can only be thankful for grace that carried me through those years.

I understand where your coming from Charlie and agree. But, ya know what really gets me, and its only because of my disability and not being able to stand in one place too long (collapsed disks). Some moron getting in the 10 items or less isle with 20+ items and the cashier just lets it go. No one may realize it but, I'm in pain after about 2 minutes of standing there and waiting for this dickweed, I'm glad I don't carry everywhere, don't know how much patience I can squeeze out while I'm gritting my teeth. Okay, Rant over.

Some people (and I use that word because it is polite company) don't know how close they come to be taken out. Big mouth and all. Takes a lot of patience some times not to "correct" the problem.

There's no excuse for the rudeness exhibited by they guy and his wife. But when someone else comes up it's time to pick a line.

I politely disagree....I got to the line ahead of them, therefore I should be able to be waited upon by the next cashier in that narrow aisle...in the end, nobody is put out...they would be directly after me...since they got there after me. Every business of that sort should have stanchions, that way if a register goes on a fritz or a price check needs to be ran to aisle Z99, it is first come first serve.

The best advice I can give is to leave the steel in the holster and retreat, ONLY pull it out as a last resort when there is no other option. I promise you will be much happier in the long run.

Yeah, I have trained under Jeff Cooper at Gunsight and Massad Ayoob, well schooled in how to deal with such situations.. I grew up under a Korean war/3 tour of Vietnam Vet, older brother that is a retired Marine that vetted me early in life, and raised a Marine.
My balls get busted in the company breakroom harder than anything that guy could dish out.
I have Rhino Hide.
I kinda feel sorry for the guy, if he is so stupid as to approach a complete stranger and act such a way...what happens if there ever a situation where the crap really hits the fan? This guy that cannot wait in line will be toast...sadly, he probably raised a few kids that learned from him.

The reason A$$HATs behave the way they do is because people of good intention sit on their hands and do nothing! The fact that the OP decided to let the Idiot wallow in his rude ignorance is to be commended. I on the other hand have absolutely no problem telling these folks to "Get Stuffed". If more folks did there would be fewer folks that behave like spoiled children. Life is too short to put up with rude impetuous jerks!

I only had to draw my weapon once in the four and a half years living here in NC, thank God it went no further! Canβt say the same in the type of work I retired from!!! Once you shoot and kill another human, no matter what the circumstances one never forgets.
