I'm currently smoking a #5 713-L Apple w/ a slightly bent SB, It was the third Edward's I bought back around '72/'73. No fills and I think I paid around $18.90 for it back then and have enjoyed it ever since!

The ones made are the last ones so enjoy it.

Now smoking a bit of swr out of my #5 Coachman 730-S, a nice cool smoke, thinking of picking up another Edwards soon.

Just finished smoking my Edwards 730-s which has given me a superb smoke every time, swr is a fine smoke when using it. All my other pipes pale in comparison, with the edward pipe drawing out all the flavor.

I'm not familiar with the Benton pipes. they weren't around when I stopped going to Edward's in the early '80s. I was living out of state back then and when I came back the Edward's in Ft. Worth was closed and the one in Dallas had moved and become a cigar shop.

They Sure did👌👍👍. Both of my grandfather’s Dunhill Pipes I now own were made in 1914 and the other 1922. Smoke superbly, super light. I own 3 BBB pipes from the 40’s....all excellent smokers!! For personal reasons I don’t purchase French Pipes. I just own what use to belong to my grandfather. My grandfather’s pipes will be traveling with me on my journey, once I leave Earth.

I called Edwards and they said anything stamped 5 was a benton, is it stamped with a big ok 5, if so you know more of Benton than most.

Never smoked one don’t own one.....just haven’t come across one I liked that I could snag. They are now somewhat rare but I've seen them in fair shape for fair prices on ebay, and etsy. Keep looking they offer a top shelf smoke.

To put things in perspective, back in '72 you could buy a Charatan Special for around $50.00 ! Things change !

If they were Dunhill, you'd be looking at 3 grand. Funny the way things work.

That's a later pipe not made from Algerian briar. You want the older ones which will be stamped Algerian Briar.

I thought they were all algerian, well I'm learning. Because of the Algerian/French wars, ( Algeria was a French colony and after many decades of fighting finally became independent ) production of Algerian Briar ended in the late '80s. You can't get it anymore.

Edwards had a serious backdoor to fine briar, lucky for us.
