I have ten or so. I'm way more tobacco focused for the time being.

I think 75-ish, and about 10 blocks of briar in waiting. Fortunately for my living expenses, far fewer guns, but 3 reloading presses and about 7 or 8 thousand assorted brass & shotshells.

23 including those which need new stems. I lost a few stems years back and cannot recall why that was. Two are Peterson pipes. Then there are two Frankenpipes fitted with copper tube stems whch work well but lose some of the esthetics.

To answer your question, about two dozen. Itβs not enough, but Iβll get there.

If I count everything, the number would be somewhere around 150. 90-ish are in the smoking collection. 40-ish are in the Malaga collection, and the rest are cobs, retired but sentimental, or in the "someday Iβll get around to selling these" pile.

I have a comfortable 7 day rotation. Any more than that would be illogical.

I have a comfortable monthly rotation, with a few extras. I am planning on selling some off, however. I would like to get down to twenty or so. I know, "good luck with that."

What's the "Malaga collection" ? Malaga pipes. Made by the Malaga Briar Pipe Co. in Royal Oak, MI (a Detroit suburb). They were in business from about 1939 to 1996. One of the pipe shops of my youth from the mid 80s until they closed. There is a brief article about them on Pipedia.org. AFAIK, I own the worldβs largest collection of Malaga pipes.

For many many years I went with 12 pipes. Then the cigar boom happened and I got all caught up in that and the pipes just sat there. The stems all turned green their ultimate disposition is undetermined.
Cutting to the chase, I now have 40 briars. 31 other pipes include about 15 cobs, 7 clays, a couple of mortas, several ash.
I actively smoke all of them, though not in any established rotation. My only rule is no pipe gets smoked more than once a day.
I tried at first to segregate certain pipes to the aromatic tobaccos, but I don't seem to have much problem with ghosting so I stopped that. Now, anything goes in anything.
This is the only audience that probably doesn't think that is an excessive amount.
But I bet you would give me grief over my 14 some odd mandolins, 2 guitars, 3 ukuleles, and several banjos.
