I hope Tesla makes it, but I not putting my money on it. Maybe I'm just a moron or developmentally slow but I can't see taking 2 days to drive to Amarillo. the charge just don't last long enough for me

My truck can make it to Amarillo on one tank of gasoline. I on the other hand, require several stops.

I was going to mention that China holds 90% of the lithium deposits, and they have no reason to sell it to us, cheap or otherwise.

Although called a Lithium Ion Battery, lithium only accounts for 13% to 15% of the battery... In other words, it is not as big of an issue as the papers & MSM would have you believe.

I figured it was like the lead in a lead acid battery, but lighter. Shows what I know. Still, lithium has other uses and other rare earths are going to kill us in the future if we don't figure out how to recycle them.

Musk has been quoted as saying that the total percentage of lithium in the battery, by volume, is somewhere around 2% to 3%

Never heard of Silver Peak Nevada eh, it where Enron routed power causing the California brownouts, ironic. You can not make a Li air, ion, ICR, IMR without it. There are hundreds of ways to make a battery but Li is as good as gets today. Unlike other alkaline minerals Li is the only one to resist electrolysis. Besides that it floats and bursts into red flame when introduced to water in pure form. And most important of all if life get to tough you can always eat your Li battery to level out those serotonin levels and stop all that pent up rage.

Germany has started running trains outside Hamburg on hydrogen fuel cells. It will be worth noting how that develops.

But the math proves out that they are only 1/2 as efficient as straight EV's. The power required to produce hydrogen, either boiling it out of water or petroleum, makes them more costly than electric. Hopefully someone will develop a cheaper way to produce it.

Yea, it would be good if we could find a catalyst for that process.
