What are some of your simple pleasures in life, Nothing major just something small that makes you smile
I'll start here's mine
Listening to Puddin Snore after we eat popsicles in bed Watching my Daughter walk past a mirror ( she can't help herself she just has to look)
What say ye the brethren?

Nothing like a fish 🐟 on the end of your rod.. as well as a warm fire on a cold night with your loved ones...

My children's laughter. Walking at night in the snow (especially with my kids). Cooking a whole pig on memorial day weekend, with my old friends from afar. Christmas lights. Cooking for people that are close to me. Dinner with parents on Friday nights. Driving through the mountains in New Hampshire. So, so many more things.

Kissing an hugging the LOVE of my life. Every time we part, whether it be for a couple minutes or days. Before we go to bed an when we wake up. Bacause you never know if you'll see them again.
Looking into her blue eyes an see her smiling. Oh it doesn't hurt if I have a pipe in my hand at most of these times.

I was NEVER the type to sit and relax, I was always on the go, now..........
Since November 2011, my only pleasure in life is spending time with my grandchildren and smoking my pipes and tobacco’s.......nothing more to add.

Wakeing up to this every morning, she's as pretty inside as outside, wondering how in the hell I deserve her.

Watching my baby girl (dog) while she sleeps. She is like a child...has dreams, makes little noises, sometimes bad dreams and I have to wake her up, cause she is whimpering...can't let her have those nightmares, like I have. My other pups used to have their own little idiosyncrasy's...loved to watch them, too. Dogs are wonderful people...don't run up your credit card, don't cheat on you, don't make long distance calls, and love you no matter what.

So many things, if we just slow down long enough to observe and enjoy them. Our joy is all around us. One immediate example. There is this flock of buzzards that pass through here twice a year. They are back this week. Today was quite warm, mid 90’s, and the buzzards are way overhead, floating on the thermals; makes me smile.

I'm guessin she'll beat hell outta you if she ever sees this I was thinking the same, haha. A fire at night, even if its 100 degrees. Since I was little I've been fascinated with fire (little bit of a pyro). A hug from any of my kids, especially my 15 year old son, that doesn't happen much. A wagging tail when I get home from work. Waking up early, grabbing a cup of coffee, and smoking a pipe in complete silence waiting on mother nature to wake up. Being ABLE to get up and go about my day

One more thing I’ll observe. As a group, I suspect pipe smokers have a higher than average appreciation for the “small” things in life. The act of pipe smoking is contemplative in nature and lends itself to quiet appreciation.

Cooking for my family. Walking with my oldest son in the woods or with one of the pups. Talking to my 4 yo about the crazy stuff he dreams up. Listening to the joy my boys bring to each other's lives expressed in young man laughs and little boy giggles. Sitting in the woods on a cold crisp morning before anything is awake and watching the sun light up the dew or frost. The sound a perfectly shot arrow makes when it hits a deer in the spot. Spring peepers in march when nothing else is stirring after a long winter of silence.

I enjoy spending life with my wife every day... my son making making great strides as he becomes a young man... my loyal friend Raven, always happy to see me come home from work... sitting out on the porch in the early am smoking a cigar or pipe and waiting for the birds to wake up and start making a racket... so much more I could go on and on.

The smell of suntan oil on a beautiful woman The first smell of saltwater in the air as you get close to the water The first smell when you open an old book The smell of Evangeline Maid bread (it's local thing) Lonnie jumping up and down in excitement when I come home every day Warm sheets on a cold night When the LSU Golden Band from Tiger Land marches down the hill That first tug, when you know you've hooked a big redfish, and you have to drag that bad boy across a duck pond Feeding corn to ducks Feeding more corn to ducks

For me it"s when my tiny tabbie kitteh jumps in my lap and settles down for a nap. She starts purring as soon as she settles and it's a sign of unconditional love.

All beautiful scenes/slices of life as we know them. Said it before and I'll say it again...great sensitive people here on the Patch....a slice of the life we want around us. Be great if we could all meet up for a conference.

Being a grandparent is very rewarding...raising kids is cool, but being a grandparent, you are hopefully wiser in years, and seeing the brevity of life, you really get a handle on what is really important and what is not. I get misty eyed when my grandkids holler "papa!" as the squeal their way into my arms, and tell me that they would rather spend the night than go home...even though they have great parents.
They are non judgmental as I smoke my pipe and we work on a puzzle, or they curl up in my arms...and with grandma, it is even more so...pretty cool stuff.

Great thread. I've been thinking of what to reply and I'm going to forget loads. Here are some for me... Cooking Netflix and chill with the wife Playing games with my girls Sitting outside on a warm sunny day, smoking my pipe I've just realised that isn't a terribly great list, but it's my list and they are things I love to do. Question for LSUTigersFan...does suntan oil smell different on a woman that isn't beautiful?

Spending time in my small machine shop. I don't even have to be doing anything, simply spending a half hours cleaning and oiling is enough to put the world to rights.
