If you're a die-hard fan, it might appear that Will Ferrell and John C. Riley are butchering the good name of Sherlock Holmes.
There's a nice-looking calabash in the trailer though.

They are. I think it'll be good, although I found step brothers to be a bit crap. I actually think I walked out of it.

I watched this the other day along with the trailer for Pet Cemetery but that's a another subject... OF EXCITEMENT!
Anywho, loved the pipe shown and one day would like to own one. Not sure if I'd like smoking from it but as a display piece it would be nice. Enjoying how it smokes would be a bonus.
As for the movie, I'm looking forward to seeing it. I really enjoyed some of the humor that is only understood if knowing the time period. Like when they were making jokes about being doctors and even offering some heroin.

Two of my favorite actors to play the roll are Sir Basil Rathbone and Peter Cushing. Before my time but so classic.

Jeremy Brett is the only actor to have ever portrayed Sherlock Holmes on film with a real dedication to the character Doyle created.
The series was produced by Granada Television out of the UK. They, along with Brett, were very dedicated to putting the actual Sherlock Holmes canon on film...as opposed to simply using the name Sherlock Holmes and/or some of Doyle's story titles like everyone else seems to.
Most actors, including well-known portrayals by Rathbone, played a character BASED on Doyle's creation. And those portrayals were often very much unlike anything resembling the Sherlock from the original canon.
Some may like other actors' portrayals better than that of Jeremy Brett. But only Brett's version was ever meant to be a TRUE interpretation of the Sherlock Holmes tales.

Consequently he's the only sherlock Holmes that I consider valid. Same with Roger Moore as James bond.

They are. I think it'll be good, although I found step brothers to be a bit crap. I actually think I walked out of it. I agree. I thought Step Brothers was terrible. I wasn't impressed with Taladega Nights either. I did like Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Everything Must Go, and loved Stranger than Fiction (definitely Will Ferrell's best film).
