That thing has seen some rough service, good luck. At the worst, it's a $5 shelf ornament. Need to find a way for her to hold gas. Everything else is currently working.

Pulled the seal out and the O ring appears to not take up the entire zone it once filled. But it's still bouncy and soft. Trying this method out and its already holding fluid after the second refill. There's hope!

My mistake on saying rough service, I thought that I was looking at two different lighters...the metal splotchy colors on the body looked like it had been treated roughly...

Received a mysterious package in the mail today - Imaging my surprise! I must have been a good boy this year! The FVF is now the oldest tobacco in the cellar; at least I think it is; dated 12/15; a treasure! And other new tobaccos to try. A treat for sure! And who doesn't need pipe cleaners, matches, and the Czech tool! Thank you so very much Scot!!

If the tank has a hairline crack brush on a thin coat of epoxy resin. I repaired my grandfather’s old Chrysler butane tank and it still holds fuel. If the butane leaks immediately either the seals or tank is cracked. The repair above works well is the lighter holds fuel for a few hours to a day, not if it leaks immediately. Luckily my Old Boy had a slow leak and the above repair worked for me, now holds fuel if not used for over a month. Last fill was on November 9th and I just checked, it lights fine. Good luck👌👍👍

There's hope! Nice job!! The rubber rings dry if not used for a year or so. Sounds like your O rings were just dry and will become pliable and seat properly. Good job👍👍👍 PS Fill and let set overnight, purge lighter once again then refill.....your good to go!!!

I need to look into that mylar bag situation, and where to secure bags and equipment necessary to seal pipe tobacco long term...

your santa may have ordered from SP and simply had them ship it, and they can stay anonymous. too bad i didn't think of that.

That thing has seen some rough service, good luck. After some tinkering she is in perfect working order. Got lucky with the electro quartz lighting thing working.
