Maybe it's time to have a poll for the BEST Secret Santa? Followed up by the You Should've Done Better poll? ๐

Maybe it's time to have a poll for the BEST Secret Santa? Followed up by the You Should've Done Better poll? ๐ back in my EARLY 20s, I threw a party. After a night of heavy drinking and green vegetation, I came up with a game - "say two nice things and one bad thing about the person on your left". Let's just say that it did not end well...

Followed up by the You Should've Done Better poll? ๐ ย Usually I would NOT comment on your post/thread, but your suggestion is definitely not a good idea!! ย ย ย ย ย ย VERY POOR SUGGESTIONย Ted before you read anything further ,please look over my last reply to you in the insomniacs thread to understand that I really have no grudge with you. By looking at other posts, I know you have a sense of humor though you appear to be a bit unaware of some forms humor can take(This is not the first time this has occurred.). In fact one reason why I use an emoticon ๐(sometimes I forget๐) is to indicate frivolity either in a sentence or two or the entire post (to be determined by context). It is also not a surprise to anyone who has read a few of my posts that I use humor quite a bit, sprinkled in with a fair amount of serious threads/posts. This last effort is so absurd that I believe there should be little doubt as to my intention. Still I mean no harm to you and understand past misunderstandings (largely based on humor) can be contributing to the current one. PS Truly hoping that you will understand, I humbly ask that if you are unsure of my intent kindly send Legend Lover or myself a message for clarification. I hope there weren't any others who took the post seriously.

You always have to keep in mind that this medium has itโs limitations communicatively...dry humor at a pub is easily recognizable for what it is... interwebs, not so much.
I never take too much seriously, and try to give the benefit of the doubt.
The PM feature is always a good way to ask for clarification at a perceived offense, even then choose words carefully.
That is why a physical pipe club is really a gem... we razz and take hits, but physical language conveys what the digital media severely lacks.

However this cycle has been repeated more than once and with no one else.So I decided to be up front and offer some advice.

Update - package is on the way back to Canadian Customs (CBSA). As I wrote before there were 2 different tracking numbers on the box. One of them carried a fee of $90 orr so, another one - $0. Both tracking numbers had my name and address. Canada Post would not release the package without CBSA fixing the situation. It also looks like CBSA covered original USA Customs form with their own, so it is not possible to get any information to compare to an original Customs bill number. Go canucks!!!

In this medium to communicate with others the choice of words is the most important then comes the thought behind them to attempt to convey the thought and emotions desired.

Example, I went to a comedy club with the wife and friends. They sat there laughing at the jokes. About 3/4 though the show what they were laughing at and when it was going to get funny.

I will admit I have a very shallow or limited sense of humour. Example, I went to a comedy club with the wife and friends. They sat there laughingย at the jokes. About 3/4 though the show what they were laughing at and when it was going to get funny. I find I've a very low laughter threshold though. It doesn't take much to make me laugh. I remember, about 20 years ago, a mercury tilt switch broke (something often associated with northern Ireland, but this was in a chemistry lab). I was a PhD student at the time and was reading the instructions for the clean up kit to one of the lecturers... "Step 1: put on throw-away gloves." "Do I put them on our throw them away?" I laughed and laughed at that for ages. I think the lecturer thought I was sucking up to her, but I just thought it was hilarious. I wasn't that funny, but to me I found it funny. I think the reason is because I visualise things. So I could just imagine her putting on the gloves, then immediately throwing them away, as per the instructions read out to her.
