Does anyone else have this issue with Bulldogs? I'm really considering getting one for my next pipe, but most everything on the Bay or your typical suspects have poor grain, or good grain and is 200$.
Are bulldogs with a prominent grain and saddle stem hard to find or am I just too picky? Maybe it's the saddle stem, I've found a few with nice grain but they don't have a saddle stem and that is no bueno.

Pipes are like that often IMO, you'll want something but what pops out to you as a person won't show up for a while. I've made some impulse decisions on pipes I wasn't grabbed by entirely and now never reach for them and thus would rather sell them for another. Strange how some pipes speak to you.

Not quite the color I'm looking for, though it is really nice. Patience, like you said. I'll probably need to start browsing "Bulldog Pipe" as well as "Kaywoodie" each morning now.

I find that it just takes some patience. It may take a month or two, but very rarely has the pipe I am looking for not showed up somewhere. And bulldogs are popular enough that I wound not expect you to have to wait long.

If you find the dog that barks at you, have another stem made for it...then you'll have your custom pipe...the way you want it.

Thanks for the links by the way guys, was in no way asking for anyone to do the search work for me. More so lamenting after an hour of browsing, but it's appreciated none the less.

When I found the Ninja Chihuahua she was all torn up and about the size of a computer mouse. I took her to the Vet and got all her shots and some antibiotics. I cleaned her wounds every day as you could see the muscles through the tears in her skin. I had to keep her in a shoebox with some old T-shirts and took her with me to work and fed her whole cream until I got her health up. She gave the wife and my daughter ring worm but I guess my old calloused hands were impervious. Roxie is five years old now and weighs 20lbs and she loves everyone except for. Well the saying goes if my dog don't like you neither do I. In the beginning I was worried about a small dog but she is all dog or is it wolf. Nah more like a fox in her habits.

Ninja Chihuahua....great name....my little MissElli was an heir from St. Pierre...he was a find-in-the-dumpster-three-quarter-dead rescue...he loved everybody and got his Saint status because he loved any dog that was injured or hurt...he was like a nurse to them. He, from his sainthood picked out our baby in the shelter...had epilepsy and no one wanted her...we did. St. Pierre MissElli

Agreed. It's hard to find a bad dog. Sometimes bad dogs are from bad owners! Dogs are not inherently bad...it's owners that make them that way. Look at the case for pitbulls...scary looking but with the right owners they are sweet loving dogs who will kill someone if they mess with their owners...no problem with that...my chihuahuas will do that too. Bite you so many times that you think you ran into a buzzsaw.

Luckily this is rare but you can tell when dogs have not been socialized with other dogs.

Usually you’ll find dogs that are not socialized with other dogs well, their owners are not socialized with other people as well.....JMHO

I put owners in parentheses because I am not sure I own my dogs...in fact they pretty much own me. Love me some dogs!!

Haven't been OK since around 1972. I can relate to that. My wife sometimes tells me that I stopped maturing when I entered military service in 1972. We had two miniature Dachshunds and lost them both within a month of each other. One died of old age - we had him for 15 years and the other died when she basically caught a 4-wheeler she was chasing about a month later. I haven't found any dogs yet that could replace them. As for bulldog pipes, I love my Savinelli Giubileo D'Oro bulldog.
