Really nice work, Jason! Mine would be another vote for some cosmetic surgery on that chin and transition. It's a fine pipe either way, but with a couple of tweaks it could be a really impressive billiard. I agree. Fortunately, it's going to a friend that doesn't smoke pipes very often. I'm meeting two buddies in Chicago next week, and I've made pipes for both. He won't know the difference. And, while that's NO EXCUSE to shy away from perfection, it's nice enough that he'll be more than happy to get something made by these hands.

Thanks, guys. This was a difficult one. I'm 97% happy with it. BUT, I'm sick of looking at it, and nothing's ever perfect. Onto a Nosewarmer and a freehand for my pop.

Thatβs a good looking pipe Jason. Someone said the perfect is the enemy of the good. Chasing perfection might get in the way of your creativity. Then again, the βseriousβ pipe people seem a mite picky! Keep up the good work!

I can't get over how great your pipes are. Your brother-in-law should be chuffed.

D_mn! That Lovat looks very unique...and awesome! My sister wanted a "dark" pipe. I just used black Fiebings, and sanded it off with 600 grit. I was skeptical, at first, but I think the finish worked out great. Now, to try it with a bright red over-stain.

That Lovat is pretty sharp. Love that stain and the dark walnut next to it is perfect. A really dark amber stem and my head would explode.

Looking forward to seeing how that one turns out! It's my first acrylic stem, so we'll see... I've seen horror stories on bending acrylic.

You're doing some fantastic work Jason. I didn't get to see the original pipes but the last 2 and the one you're working on are great.

Cramptholomew Jason, that's some good work you did on the briar. Excellent looking gift for the old man, which I'm sure he'll enjoy Well, I'm thinking that you should run a couple of quick bowls through it, you know, just to make sure everything flows and so forth

Pipe is done. Came out pretty good. The acrylic stem was actually wonderful to work with. I'll be doing more of them in the future. I dig it, Jason! Your dad is going to be proud! I agree with you about the acrylic. I lean towards vulcanite for smoking, but I prefer working with acrylic. In my opinion, it's more forgiving. I like that it stays pliable for longer when bending so you can get the angles just right.

You're right, I like the feel of ebonite better on my teeth, but the acrylic is easier to work with. Next, I gotta try some Absylux.
