2019 might be a big year for me. I'll be able to look for my own church and so there's a potential house move, the wife will be leaving work, girls changing school, etc. We might be across the country.
It'll be scary but also amazing.
I've also managed to get the chance to go skiing in Jan. I've been dreaming of going skiing ever since my first ski trip with my wife in 2007.
Those are 2 things I'm looking forward to next year.

Strange that you ask this because I was thinking about it all day at work today.
I'm changing jobs. If I cant find enough work right away to stay busy myself, another guy told me I can help him while I get things going. BUT I am also thinking about completely changing jobs and finding something new. As it stands, my retirement is non-existant. I dont want to work til I die from it. I'm not getting any younger.
I'm going to make some personal changes too to help out my overall well being and excess stress.
My goal for 2019 is to bust my arse in every aspect of life so 2020 will be a better "start."

Never hit it big with any of them but I have no regrets. I do miss skiing. Use to do it when I was a teenager all the time and even dreamed of skiing at night. Afraid those days are over and several other sports with back issues. Do and try everything when you are able! |

(2) LSU beating UCF
(3) A top 3 recruiting class (and maybe a decent OC)
(4) Exercising more
(5) Keeping my associates at work sane and moving forward
(6) An email from the CMP that I won a 1911
(7) A bunch of new and hilarious jokes
(8) Everyone staying healthy and smiling

You never know what may happen in your employment, in your health and probably a hundred other things I just can't think about right now. I worked until I was 71 years old...I was the old man in the dept. Worked until I literally couldn't work anymore (spinal stenosis)...sometimes I went in to work at 4AM knowing I couldn't make it all day. My boss understood that I was literally die-ing at work and let me work the hours I needed to get 40 hrs per week. I barely made it into work at all. So think about your retirement in a serious way...you don't want to be in my shoes when you are 70 years old. Life is not getting any easier...companies are screwing their employees cause they can...so take it upon yourselves to plan ahead and get your arse in gear while you still can. |

Looking forward to the next step in my insurance career, new memories with my family, planning a trip to the mountains next winter. Wife and I are going to really work hard on losing some weight and keeping up with our kids. New pipes, cigars and tobacco.. I want learn to be better at being a patient Dad and husband . Hope everyone’s dreams and goals come true...
addition: I need to buy some more guns with the girl in the life now .. 😀

2019 will be a little different than 2018. I have to wonder how much more skin cancer they will find. How much more my lumbar back will degenerate and the pain increase. How much longer before a revision of the right knee hardware( had replacement already). Always wonder if there will be enough to pay the monthly bills. Wonder when I will be able get my car running again. Wonder if there is someone qualified to work on my eyes.
And it will be another year I wished I had jobs where I could have been able to set up a retirement fund.
As the old saying goes "don't cry over spilled milk". Also "if there is a will there is a way"
I look at the above like this. The above is not in my complete control, I will handle it one day at a time. And besides I have 3 things going for me.
1. I am insane
2. I am of Celtic heritage
3. I am a Marine

Paddy, best wishes on your search for the right church. I’m not sure how that all happens in your tradition, but I’m certain there will be people to help find the best fit. The best advice I ever received on starting a new pastorate was to meet them where they are and love them. At the end of the day, it is that simple, but often not easy!
Ted, good luck on the potential move, lots to look forward to I’m sure.
I like the way you’re thinking Josh, planning for retirement can’t start too early. Never be afraid of a new situation, change is usually good. One bit of advice, don’t burn any bridges, sometimes you need a way back.
All the rest of you, I wish for the best in 2019.
As for me, I hope to keep an even keel. My work, health, family, and life are going well. I’m not looking for major change, but change wouldn’t surprise me. Life is all about change. I hope to be able to work a few more years and then enjoy some downtime. In the meantime, I will continue to build my cellar so in retirement I won’t have any tobacco worries.

Finishing greenhouse, finishing barn, getting a few acres fenced in . 2019 gardens planted. Getting animals going. And somehow putting back enough money to start building a house in 2020.

The warmth of the sun. If I could step out into Dubai just for a few minutes of natural unfiltered sunlight and heat before I got on my next flight, I would. But I am not sure you can do that. My longest layover there was only like 3 hours and I spent most of it in the smoking lounge and sleeping in these really comfortable reclining chairs next to a gate that was for like some sort of fancy travel that I wasn't part of. I just sort of pretended like I was supposed to be there and fell asleep. What sensible person would interrupt a sleeping international traveller?

For me it's making life changes. I've partied like a teenager for too long. Haha I'm in rough shape. I'd like to cut my drinking down to one or two times a month. I'm not talking about wine with dinner or a finger of whiskey to sip with a pipe, but the serious drinking I do with my gnarly friends(That's all they seem to want to do...)
My eating habbits also need to change. Farewell junkfood, it's been swell, but I'm 37 and tired of being fat. Haha. I seriously have dreams where I'm just running. Not in fear haha but enjoying a run on a beach or through a park.
Gym membership is also happening. I may not be able to lift like I used to with my back... but there is no reason I can't get my arse on a bike or treadmill for an hour a day.
On the bright side: 6 more payments and I own my car! Which means over six hundred dollars a month towards saving to own my own home. -So long as I stay off the pipe sites... Haha But seriously, it's good to see the light at the end of that particular tunnel. I bought 'Lola' back when I had a promising career, only to have my back fall apart a few months after bringing her home. Haha. It's been tough on a fixed income, but Im almost there.
