To all you youngsters out there...let me implore you to think about your retirement NOW. You never know what may happen in your employment, in your health and probably a hundred other things I just can't think about right now. Roth IRA. Start yesterday. Yeah...even though I am covered in a very well funded pension, I took out a Roth IRA about 15 years back. When I was younger, I heard talk show host Bruce Williams preach the gospel of the Roth IRA...raising a family, I never seemed to have the funds to do so...looking back, I could have, if I had just had different priorities.

Looking forward to the New Year.....friends that I pray for to have better health,
two more to have peace of mind and a way forward in their vocations.
Me, I just pray for the opportunity to be here, to have changed my life and be a better person.
Looking forward to having a great and enjoyable time with my puppy...she is a joy beyond measure to our small family (of two).
That is what I'm looking forward to.

2019 might be a big year for me. I'll be able to look for my own church and so there's a potential house move, the wife will be leaving work, girls changing school, etc. We might be across the country. It'll be scary but also amazing. I've also managed to get the chance to go skiing in Jan. I've been dreaming of going skiing ever since my first ski trip with my wife in 2007. Those are 2 things I'm looking forward to next year. What about you? May divine providence guide you to a supportive flock, and wisdom grounded in truth, guide you pastorally. I know that the window is short to building up your body for a skiing trip next month, but the stronger your lower extremities are, the better...Surgical tubing with heavy resistance can really help out a lot with exercises.... do some daily stretches, and definitely on the day(s) of skiing. I would love to ski again, it is exhilarating....my right knee in particular, is my reality check on staying off the slopes.

I switched my traditional IRA to a Roth in the late 90s when there was a window between fiscal years 1996-1999 to spread out the tax liability. Contributions are after tax dollars but withdraws after age 59 1/2 on profits are tax free. You can normally buy into one for between $1,000 and $2,500 minimum investment. The contribution limit is currently $5,500 yearly until age 50 when it changes to $6,000. You can invest what you can afford as you go through the working years and, unlike the traditional IRA, there are no withdraw requirements meaning it should be the last money you ever spend on the way out the door to the next phase. It's perhaps the best retirement investment tool available to younger folks IMHO. I skipped out on monthly car payments my whole life, maxxed out my IRA instead and retired at 55. Healthcare is the only elephant in the room now but I'm covered through the VA for most things. As a disclaimer, I am neither an attorney or CPA; consequently, anything I've incorrectly stated doesn't mean a hill of beans. YMMV.

But sure you just stand the whole way down and the snow does the work, no? 😁

Best wishes to all of you for 2019. I will be looking forward to new clients for the new business, and finding an affordable live aboard sailboat to truly experience the nomadic life at sea, with a well stocked cabinet of baccy, duh!
Good luck to all of you making big changes in life, and to those hoping to not see any big changes! Good health and happiness!

One of many things I've been looking forward to in 2019, has been the start-up of a business idea in Baja de California. Its a wonderful business idea, and one that involves couples (especially on the weekends). The idea is a Bait/Tackle & Lingerie shop. Now here's the deal you have to picture. You and your loved one walk inside the shop, and on the right side, you have your bait/tackle business. You know, rods, reels, sinkers, bloodworms, sand crabs, fishing cloths/hats, mudsuckers, fishing lures, whiz bangers, and all the good stuff a guy could ask for. Now, on the left side of the shop, you'll find bras, nightgowns, panties, perfumes, bathing suits, feathers and leathers, hand-cuffs, makeup, etc. Everything to make your lady happy. In addition, a fishing guide service will be run from the shop called "Shooting Anchovies in Baja." Its a simple fishing business, wherein a few folks would be taken out in a panga type boat to locate large schools of anchovies, and basically take em out with a 12ga shotgun. If you purchased the other endorsement on your fishing license at the shop, you will probably be able to enjoy the second half of this fishing extravaganza called "Shooting Big Arse Sharks in Baja" as they feed off of the remains of the anchovies. Its a win-win fishing adventure Well, I'm looking forward to continuing my long walks on a daily basis with the dogs and my wife. One of those things I feel is important in life. Keeping the body and limbs moving. Thinking positive and helping others when I can. Enjoying my part-time work at the Redmond Airport in transporting cars and suv' around the state of Oregon. Eating healthy as one can, but at the same time, enjoying those good tasting foods too. Enjoying a good micro-brew and bourbon from time to time. Hoping to get away this Summer for a trip with the wife, and see more of the US of A. I want to actually take-up fly fishing in 2019. We have several fly fishing shops here (sans lingerie) that offer basic fly fishing techniques. The one shop I'm thinking of is down on 3rd street that has been here forever. We have a beautiful river called the Deschutes river here in Oregon, and I'd really like to give it a go. So, that's what I'm looking at so far in the year 2019. I'm always a firm believer in Psalm 138: 8, and everything does tend to work out, and has for us, with a little thought and thanks...
