Looking for a source to get shaving soap. I am not looking for that stuff in an arisol can. What I am looking for is a cake of soap that goes into a mug and a brush is used to create a foam for shaving.

If Scrooge checks in, the info might be dated...I don't think he has shaved since 1983.
I cannot remember the brand, but I bought shaving cakes from CVS that I really liked, but my cheap-O shaving brush fell apart, now I use Edge Gel...good luck John.

For years I used Williams shaving soap. It's available at Amazon. Cheap and works fine. Amazon has brushes also.

Go online. Try Classic Shaving, Bullgoose Shaving, Fendrihan Shaving or West Coast Shaving. Big variety from cheap to expensive in more scents than you could imagine.

There are nearly as many soap choices as tobaccos. I like the offerings from Chisled Face, particularly Ghost Town Barber.

Have used Williams for over 40 years now. It's affordable and works well. Most drugstores have sold it if they don't try Amazon.

My wife got me a nice brush from Ross.Walmart has soap cakes but you have to look for them. Walgreens or CVS should also.My first brush and cup came from an antique store.Son claimed them.I'm also a fan of the old "safety razors".Don't trust my hand with a straight razor. Yet.

Haven't used a shaving soap in twenty odd years. I'll stick with my Palmolive shaving cream in a tube. I have to get it via Ebay,as it's not a 'first world' product

Shaving soaps are hard to find in these parts. The corporate chain stores do not stock them anymore. I have used cake soap, a bristle brush and an old coffee mug from the now-defunct "Ancient Mariner" restaurant in California for decades. So, I use a bar soap, not a shaving soap. Kirk's Castile Soap. I bathe with it and when the bar thins down, break it into two pieces and into the mug it goes. Lathers up just fine. Great with our hard water.

My absolute favorite out of 9 brands thus far is Maggardโs Shaving soap, especially Barber Shop and Bergamot/Lime. Near perfect comfort and smell wonderful.
I love the Stirling soap scents, but they do not perform as well for me.

Been some good input thus far. I have looked in the places mentioned above with no results. I did go to the Williams Shaving Soap web site, they refer to online purchases of their products. So I guess it is time to go online to find it. If this doesn't work maybe a bar of Ivory Soap will be used. Now just think about the hassle and run around trying to find a moustache wax that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Yes, I wear a handle bar stach and have had one since the early 80's.

I use Clean and Clear, not a soap, but a liquid face cleaner made by J&J. It works as well as any old time shaving soap for lubrication, but leaves the skinโ uh, clean and pretty clear.....
Available at virtually any drug store and many supermarkets.

Before John shops for shaving soap, he better find a blade that can stand up to his stubble, as far as I can tell, nothing on the Rockwell hardness scale is up to the task.
He once rubbed a smooth pipe across his beard and ended up with a rusticated pipe.

Yellow box Feathers are the way to go for blades. I should mention your water has a lot to do with how good the soaps work for ya.

While not a cake and in a mug, you can find, what I think is the absolute best...Cremo shaving cream in a squeezable tube...never have I found anything smoother or better than this and you can find it in any Walmart store. That and a Venus 5 blade shaver...as a package nothing can beat it in my opinion (not so humble). You get a silky finish.

I scored 30 bars of Colonel Conk a couple years ago. I shave 2-3 times a week. I'm good.

Found a web based company that is 25 miles from my house. It has a small retail front. We took a small trip over there to check out their products. What we found was a young lady that as knowledgeable about the products and has a great personality. With her assistance I was able to find a soap that would would work for me. These soaps are made in house of natural ingredients. I was able to get 1 oz samples of three different soaps at a reasonable price. Then there is the moustache wax. Also made in house with natural ingredients. No sample sizes here but a 1oz tin is $12.00. This was a good find. If you wish check out www.wetshavingproducts.com . Oh yea, they have a line of soaps for the ladies at www.realsexysoap.com

I also have a handlebar moustache. Best and cheapest wax is 60% Vaseline and 40% beeswax melted together. ' Course, for me it's really cheap because I have a friend in the honey business. Gave me a block of beeswax that'll last the rest of my life.
