Peets coffee is my go to. I prefer it over Starbucks. Buy it in the market, go to their stores when out.

Since I like chiccory coffee I've tried both of the only brands that blend it, Community Coffee and French Market, both made in 'Nawlins , my preference is for French Market . They sell both around here at most grocery stores as well as Cafe Bustelo. As far as Starbucks goes, for me I think the local water makes the difference in it's flavor 'cause when I'm in Seattle visiting my daughter I like it but down here it's some of the most bitter coffee I've had ! Does anyone know of a good way to froth milk other than those hand held whisks and a proper espresso machine? Or is there no real alternative to the espresso machine?
I've got one of the wee whisks but I wonder is there anything better. You can't seem to get the frother attachment that the espresso machines have without getting the machine with it. I thought they'd do stand-alone, but I haven't had any joy in finding one.

I was looking for a steam frother.

I have a frother that I bought on Amazon a few years ago that will heat and froth or just froth depending on which button you push.I think it was about 25-30 bucks. if you run it on the heat cycle it gets pretty hot,I usually run it twice on the heat/froth cycle and it does well. It does about 1/4 cup at a time but with expansion it ends up being about 3/4 cup. its non stick surface is easy to clean.

I never thought they did the same as the steam one, but perhaps the heating cycle helps too. At the minute I use the hand-held one after zapping the milk for 30 seconds in the microwave.

Currently having my own flat white made from a rich Italian roast by Taylors. I used the aeropress. I just learned what "flat white" means.

I love Starbucks Veranda Blonde. I love Community Coffee Medium roast.
But my motto is that bad breath is better than no breath, and I will drink what is in front of me.

Peet's is my #1. They tend to roast on the darker side using a process that somehow preserves the myriad nuanced flavors of the bean.

I’ve been enjoying Greem Mountain Columbian, Dunkin Donuts Columbian and a few others I can pick up at Lowe’s Foods. I don’t like “ K “ cup coffee due to the damage of our environment. If I use a “ K “ cup machine I ALWAYS use one of my reusable mesh coffee baskets. I prefer the old style perk or French press method. For a number of years I preferred Kona or Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.......for me it’s not worth the money!! Here is a fun fact. Jamaica Blue Mountain today is not the same coffee that made Blue Mountain famous. In the early 70s a hurricane wiped out the varietal. The Japanese stepped in and offer to replant but they get 1st dibs on anything good that grows. They replanted with a hybrid varietal that is not the same. However, a plantation in Papua New Guinea called Sigri Estate AA was created from the original Blue Mountain varietal. If you can find it online it is worth it to try a piece of a coffee legend. Yup, that hurricane wiped out the real Wallingford High Mountain coffee, also wiped out the Lambs Breath, too. Now all you can get with the exception that acefour mentioned, is the "blended" Jamaican coffee. I like the Kona, still, I like the flavor...for espresso I used to only go for Ideal ([pronounced ee-dee-al,] same as used on 8th. street in Miami) but then I found La Rica at Walmart...$1.00 and change and beats the hell out of Ideal. Wonderful for cafe con leche...something I drink 3-4 a day.

I get a flat white about once a week....a grande quad flat white from Starbucks,on my way to the weekly staff meeting. This is helpful for keeping me awake and I notice that the other attendees don't sound like Charlie Browns teachers.I prefer Peets over Starbucks but the Starbucks is on my way.

So I just made me some coffee using that cowboy method I posted earlier. It worked out really well. Coffee is a lot better than I expected and as far as I'm concerned I have a new method in making my coffee.
As for the more high-end Gourmet styles of coffee, I'll still keep that to the professionals in the few times that I actually utilize them and pay that kind of money.

He is always showing off how it can froth a quarter cup of milk to a full cup.

I've seen a lot of espresso machines that make good coffee but fall short of a proper froth.

Just finished purchasing a 5lb bag of the Costa Rica Villa Sarchi Natural green beans from Bodhi Leaf. Oh, and a coffee mug. Its the same style as the Community Coffee mugs (10 ouncers). Thick mug walls... Peets coffee is my go to. I prefer it over Starbucks. Buy it in the market, go to their stores when out. I was at Target' today looking at their whole roasted bean bags. Just be careful and check the "Roast Date" and the "Best Use by Date" on the front of their bags. I was looking at one of their blends, Major Dickason I believe, that Target' had displayed, the roast date was 10/2018, and the use by date was 1/7/2019. Not to say that would be a game breaker for a majority of folks, but for me it is... I love Starbucks Veranda Blonde. I love Community Coffee Medium roast. But my motto is that bad breath is better than no breath, and I will drink what is in front of me. I love how popular Community is in the patch!Community puts out some good coffee blends, and I love their Community Tea too. Looks like they may have a 20% off thing going on... COMMUNITY COFFEEStearmandriver Thanks for sharing the Cowboy Coffee video. I'll have to find a "big Birtha" and try out the recipe one of these days for a "buzz."

I haven't tried many brands of chicory coffee, but I am quite partial to Cafe Du Monde. Their chicory coffee is quite good.
Chicory is an acquired taste, and I have acquired it, not as an all the time coffee, but at times it is very nice.

Honestly, I cannot recall the last time I had the chicory flavor outside of chicory coffee at Cafe du Monde down in the Quarter. I don't really know if I had anything against it. But, go with what works for you

No they don't get the milk steamed and frothed the same way, but also take way less energy. I got rid of mine when I got the espresso machine 5 years ago. It's a Quickmill Andreja Premium and can't be happier with it.

I like Cafe DuMonde (blue can) and Cafe Bustello. Other than that, I get my beans down at Prestogeoarge in the strip district. Highland Cream.... They blend and roast their own coffees, so I have no clue what I'm buying beyond the name they give it. The smell of that joint is tied with the walk-in humidor at Allegheny SmokeWorks for heaven on earth. haha

I thought they'd do stand-alone, but I haven't had any joy in finding one. Use a small stainless steel cup with a handle, keep in freezer at all times until ready to use. You’ll be making thick froth like the pros in no time using the steam frother from the cheapest machine on the market. Works well with chilled milk, heavy cream not necessary.
