I owned a high end coffee shop at one time until the financial crisis hit. I'm a bit of a coffee nerd and go on for hours about the magic bean. I ran a bohemian style coffee house for many many years. A few types of coffee, many types of tea, art work, live music, jam sessions, movie night, poetry night, game night, etc. It was really something. What put us out was the changing times. When students started avoiding anything that would not look good on a resume, ASCAP and BMI ate our lunch, and soon enough a new style of coffee shop came to town. Its evolve or die. But a whole lot of fantastic memories.

I rotate between Maxwell House and Folgers, straight black coffee in a commercial Bunn coffee maker. Between the Mrs. and I we drink 3 to 4 pots of coffee in the morning. I'd go broke if we drank high end coffee. That's 15 to 20 cups of coffee each!

Why do some think an aeropress is better than a french press? Don't know anything about an Aero. The aeropress makes very similar coffee to the French Press, but in smaller amounts. To me French pressed is the best because it preserves all of the oils and flavor, but the Aeropress comes closest of the other methods.

I just want my cup of coffee in the morning. I like some very expensive coffees, but not that much better than Community. We French Press on weekends but during the week it's Nescafe Dark Roast. I make Greek coffee about twice a year, but we drink it every time we eat at a Greek restaurant.

I like french press, but I hate cleaning dishes.
Drip machine, Community Coffee medium, and no i don't use the same coffee cup over and over. Like pipes, I find a cup I love, and I get several of them as soon as I can.

Hot coffee, with a shot of Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream. A little half and half to get the color right, and live is wonderful.

CCC has some great coffee and roasted to order. Love those guys and tramped around Nicaragua coffee farms with them one season. For French Press - Measure 55g whole bean coffee to 1 Liter French Press
- Grind course as possible with burr or conical grinder
- Water just off the boil. Basically bring the water to a boil and then let it cool until the bubbles stop rising
- Add coffee, water, give a quick stir and set timer for 4 minutes
- Press slowly and serve in a heated cup
That's the ticket! I sometimes will pour some 205ΒΊ water into the FP to preheat the glass and metal, then into the cup for the same reason.

I miss it though. We had great patrons and great music. Landlord and property management firm was the biggest issue. So mismanaged that the owner of the strip mall got foreclosed on by the bank after we pulled the plug.

Now with all my meds hopefully one mug a day, sometimes 2, never more! Plays havoc with my meds and BP. Getting older bites!!

You place any sweetener in with this, or does that ruin the experience? No additional sweetener required. I should back up a little. First of all, despite how it may sound, I am not a serious drinker. I never never get drunk. I never never drive home after a drink, all of that. That said, i do enjoy and adult beverage, when out with friends, and sometimes by myself. I have long been a friend of bourbon in my coffee. Certain bourbons are better for this than others IMO, but a cup of coffee with a shot of bourbon is a very nice drink. I don't use it, in the sense of an "eye opener" or recovery from a hangover, I just like the taste. Friends and family have long tried to get me to enjoy Bailey's Irish Cream and coffee. But Bailey's is not one of my favorites and in coffee it remains not one of my favorites. I am not good at reverse engineering flavors, but I like my drinks to have a few nails in them. Some construction debris in the taste. I don't know how else to put it. If a drink is totally smooth with no bite I have to wonder why am I drinking it. (I am not a fan of the other side of the spectrum, as I don't have enough testosterone for some of those rocket fueled drinks.) So it seems to me that Buffalo Trace Bourbon cream has managed to make a cream drink with a nail or two. I like the taste. I like what it does to my coffee.

It used to be fun, relaxed, people being themselves, and it became very self conscious, very "hey I used to be a hippy", and coffee culture, after Starbucks, became an entirely different animal. (No complaints at all, its evolve or die, everything new kills something old and every preservation stifles innovation, so no problem.) It was inevitable. And the occasional bohemian style coffee house I find in my travels seems more like historic re-enactment, without the smoking. I even found a company that makes coffee house tables that are supposed to look like cable reels. Dammit we used real cable reels for tables.

Have been drinking chiccory coffee for over 30 years now, either French Market or Community, 'Nawlins style ( lots of cream and sugar ) . Recently I picked up some Cafe' Bustelo espresso and have enjoyed the change. I've used a French Press for all these years and am using with the espresso as well ! Cafe Bustelo is great coffee. I first discovered this because the repair shop I used to wait to have my vehicle worked on had served Cafe Bustelo. Tastes best in a Styrofoam cup. Don't know why. I would warn against the K-cups on this. They tend to gunk up the coffee maker. If you are going to make cowboy coffee, use Bustelo. My opinion, you'll love it.

The best coffee I ever had was camping. It was backing up to the woods. We got up out of our tents and it was chilly. No, it was cold. I made fire and my companion brought a full kettle of water. Using fat wood and tinder and found branches I made a reasonable fire and boiled the water. My companion set up a large press pot with grounds. In this case it was Eight O'Clock Coffee I think. Poured in the water. Waited the requisite 4 minutes. (I think I spent the time fussing with the fire.) I got my half and from the cooler, and a real spatter wear cup. I love those cups when camping because the warm up your hands real good. That coffee was so great. Coffee to dawdle over. I had a cup and then had a cigar with my second cup.

I'm out of my Colombian. The rest of the family drinks "breakfast blend" and that just doesnt do it for me.
I could use a cup right now, but that requires me going inside and making a pot.
Maybe I'll pick up a small one to keep in the shed...

I prefer coffee that's made in a french press, pour over or stove top expresso at least for my first cup.The amount of coffee I drink though requires that I use a coffee maker, and a couple weeks back my mr coffee died. They usually last about a year for us.My wife brought home a Ninja this time and this thing makes pretty good coffee, much better than other drip machines I have used. The pot is smaller,8 cup max,you can make a single cup, half a pot, full pot or something called a forte.I was very skeptical but so far so good,a little on the pricey side for sure.We usually make about 3 pots a day.one of which goes in my big thermos for work. Here it is ninjakitchen.com/exclusive-offer/CF091WBKT/ninja-coffee-bar-system-with-glass-carafe/

Pricey pot, but I figure it's worth it. There is ALWAYS a hot pot of coffee here. Well, except during sleeping hours. If I spend money on a coffee pot and it lasts for a year, I definitely got my money's worth out of it.

Since now that my coffee is limited to the maximum of 2 mugs a day I much prefer a French press. Those days I canβt get my BP down itβs NO coffee. I use to LIVE on coffee!! Recently purchased the French press pictured below from a seller on eBay who was having a great closeout sale.......cost me $27.00 delivered. Makes an excellent mug of coffee, Iβm HAPPYπππ

Paddy, very popular Espresso maker in Italy and most of Europe. Makes excellent Espresso, worth every penny. There are cheaper models on the market, this company stands behind their product. I purchased mine while living in Europe and once in a while I still use my Bialetti. I have a sandwich press made by the same manufacturer πππ Watch this video when you have time.........

Legend Lover @lonecoyote Andre, I agree with Ted. I have a 3 cupper Bialetti that produces a darn good espresso (depending on what coffee blend you use). You just need to get down a consistency of using a low gas flame, and when the boil and pressure builds in the Bialetti that starts producing your crema and espresso. A little practice and it all comes together. Enjoy!

I use them, or just like. And I quite like it. Its a little fiddly for morning coffee, where the prime directive is to get caffeinated. But as an afternoon ritual its kind of cool, with excellent results.
