I love mine. Use espresso blends in mine but drip even is good. Don't use it in the AM, but in afternoons for a jolt. But I believe that 2 cup makes enough coffee for two espresso size cups, not regular coffee cup size, check out the volume.

Since now that my coffee is limited to the maximum of 2 mugs a day I much prefer a French press. Those days I can’t get my BP down it’s NO coffee. I use to LIVE on coffee!! Recently purchased the French press pictured below from a seller on eBay who was having a great closeout sale.......cost me $27.00 delivered. Makes an excellent mug of coffee, I’m HAPPY👍👍👍 That should work just fine. We have older ones, made by Bodum, in the original style. I have to laugh, though, at "8 cups".... yeah, at 4 oz each! Enjoy.

I have an older Bodum, it’s much bigger and definitely makes 4 nice size mugs of coffee.
This new one I purchased has the proper markings on the glass, I know exactly water to coffee ratio I prefer. For $27.00 delivered plus all the extras I could not pass this bargain up.....very satisfied here👌👍👍

I like mine,we use it often. I've got one also...but I usually use an antique E maker that I've had for over 50 years...had to replace the gasket but other than that it is outstanding.

We've (my wife and I) been drinking Black Rifle Coffee Company's "Caffeine and Hate" blend the last few months and love it! We buy whole bean and grind them ourselves. We use the DIY filter in our Keurig or use our French Press.
Our absolute favorite creamer is International Delight's Cold Stone Creamery's Sweet Cream creamer. It's like pouring melted vanilla ice cream in your coffee. Unfortunately the creamer isn't low carb and not part of our diet. Heavy whipping cream is an okay substitute, but I miss my creamer. (I did use some today, however.)

Grinding your beans is the only way for me to do it...gotta have fresh ground or it is just flat tasting to me.

Wish I was able to enjoy at least a full pot of coffee every day! Nothing like old fashion perk coffee, roast your own beans and grind when ready to brew👌👍👍

We have been buying Cafe Du Monde coffee with Chicory for awhile now and really like it, $9.29 for 12 oz. The wife ran across this blend that is made in Nawlins’ a bit cheaper. Has anyone compared the two? French Market Coffee, Coffee and Chicory, Medium-Dark Roast Ground Coffee, 12 Ounce Metal Can a.co/4GOcK1M

Cafe du Monde is slightly better to me, and cheaper here at $6.35/tin, but not enough difference to worry about. NECROMANCER!

Thanks, the FMC is definitely cheaper on Amazon which really isn’t a concern for me, but it seems to matter slightly to the wife.
I noticed it is made by Reilly foods out of New Orleans, they make blue plate mayonnaise that I have heard of.

I don't care for the FMC (😁 coffee!) so much but if it's the only alternative it's not bad. We don't see it up here. Just Cafe du Monde and Community. Kroger always had the FMC in the Houston area. They're actually all good, just personal preference.

Thanks for reviving this thread, trailboss--I had totally missed it before.
And I love coffee. Love love love love love it. If I had to choose between coffee and my pipes--ekh no, don't even go there, don't make me even think such thoughts.
That said, I don't guzzle it in vast quantities any more, or past early afternoon. Too old for those tricks; I have to sleep at some point. I'm not too particular about the kind of coffee I drink, except that as to roast, as Leonard Cohen said, I like it darker. )Since I also take it black, I have to adapt the old Turkish (supposedly) proverb to its country-and-western version: Coffee should be black as hell, strong as death, bitter as love. ) I mostly use a moka pot at home (the so-called stovetop espresso pioneered by Bialetti that has been mentioned earlier), though on weekends when I know I'll be at home and enjoying a couple of mugs, I'll use a stovetop percolator.
I've enjoyed reading this long conversation and will add more thoughts, such as they are, later on, but that's my basic coffee story for now.

Hey folks,
I have crossed over (to some extent) to premium coffee making. I surprised myself actually. I bought myself a little digital scale, a V60 pour over get up, and an affordable second hand burr grinder with settings on it. I go to my friends shop and buy fancy coffee, and through trial and error and the interwebs I have learned how to grind it correctly, do a pour over correctly.
No I don't wear a corduroy jacket with suede elbows, and yea I still commit the "sin" of adding half and half.
I will admit I am now drinking some of the best dern coffee I have ever had. Seriously. Tasty. Coffee. To the extent that sometimes I don't stop for coffee on the way home, knowing I have better tasting coffee waiting for me.
That said, some things have not changed. Coffee still gets better the more I need it.
And when you stub your thumb knuckle putting on the snow tires in 30 to 35 degree weather, and you swear creatively for the third time, nothing beats a drip machine Café Bustelo (the Carter Hall of coffee I once said) served in a ceramic mug that hasn’t been washed since Ross Perot ran for president.
And when a friend buys you a cup of coffee at the diner, in order to sit down with you and apologize, and you get to forgive that person to her face and see her relief, well, there is no coffee in the world better than that.

Any opinions on Black Rifle Coffee? Interesting advertising schtick. I don't think I'll be a customer anytime soon.

Any opinions on Black Rifle Coffee? I'm intrigued by Murdered Out, which seems to be the darkest of their dark roasts, but haven't tried any of their coffee yet.

I know a couple people that are regular drinkers of Black rifle Coffee, and they really like it but I have never partaken.
I do know that they generously support deployed troops and organizations committed to serving vets.

I had a friend in the ‘90s who went to Brazil regularly for business and he started bringing me coffee every time he was there. Ever since I have been hooked on Brazilian coffee.

Several years back IHOP changed their coffee to the worst slop I ever tasted. Even at 5am with 3 hours sleep in January it is still awful. Had to ask for 6 little cups of creamer for each cup. Waffle House is OK and Dennys is in between.

Power was out this morning so I boiled water on the gas stove and used the French press with Community Breakfast Blend. It was wonderful on the porch with the temperature at 48 degrees.

What blend is in the Peretti Tin? There were two Peretti cans next to the coffee, I don’t know which one made it in frame, it’s either DD or Original Mixture.

As a small boy, coffee making in a Cajun house was an art, Mellow Joy, Seaport, or Community was the blend of choice. You boiled your water and then eased the hot water slowly on a small drip pot making the cream we called the stuff that rose from the hot water, sometimes as high as 3 inches high. Small cups were the norm, as a couple sips were all you need as it was black and almost like syrup. Those were the days. That sounds kind of like the preparation of Vietnamese coffee. I would imagine both methods are of French origin. Now I want some, but it's too late in the afternoon for this old geezer to indulge!
