For more years than I can count Nabisco Saltines have been my cracker. A couple of months ago I ate one, it was almost burnt, bad taste, wondered if it was me, wife says it’s not you. Got on the internet and horrors of horrors, hundreds of people MFing Nabisco crackers imploring them to go back to the old recipe. Today wife bought Kibbler Saltines and Viola saltine heaven. Just wanted to pass it on.

Saltine crackers and sweet tea... delicious. I noticed a change a while back as well, but I never looked for a replacement. I'll have to try those out.
Add some oysters and hot sauce and I'd be in heaven.

I'll have to try a box. Haven't had 'em in a while, I kinda like them burnt. I used to toast them.

What with old age, and neurotoxins in the Gulf oysters...I pretty much am through taking my chances with raw anything.

From cheap saltine's to "high end" crackers, I used to be such a fan of them all. Mostly combined with some good cheese and at times, cured meats. But now I'm making lifestyle changes and the crackers had to go.

If you can find them there are Motzos(kosher crackers/unlevaned bread). Good with butter, peanut butter, jelly's/jams, cream cheese with lox or with a soup. @lonecoyote can give better info.

The last Premium Saltines I bought are just fine. Bad batch? I have been dying for some fried oysters for months but none of the seafood restaurants seem to have them anymore. The last I had was at a boat shaped restaurant in Austin on I35 just off 290.

Nabisco is not Nabisco it is not Kraft it is Mondolez Int and much like Bimbo Bakery their products suck. For years I ate Club crackers they were so buttery and crisp now they simply crumble and Ritz is not far behind. I like those cute elves that work for Keebler a division of Kellogg Food. Don't even get me started on Hershey not sure what they are selling but it does not taste right anymore so now its Ghirardelli or Trader Joe.

Pictures or they don't exist John, when I lived in Europe I ate a few of those “ digestive cookies “ with a cup of coffee. You know why they are called “ digestive cookies “.......you 💩💩💩 your brains out. That sir you definitely don’t want a picture of.....lol Even down South the big name supermarkets sell Matzo’s, the egg & onion are real good👍👍

If I want a breadlike snack, I just grab a homemade tortilla... I roll out a batch per week, no preservatives, no chemicals and dirt cheap.

Years ago there was a company which made a cracker something like hardack. A rectangle, about 1/2 thick and hard. I have not seen them for a long time. Meanwhile, I make my own hardtack.
Post script: "Sailor Boy Pilot Bread". Anyone remember that tooth breaker?

Never heard of Sailor Boy Pilot Bread... no thanks! I do remember the John Wayne crackers we got in our C-rat supply as a military family in Germany... them things sucked donkey testicles. You had to be as tough as John Wayne to eat them.
