You can list your favorite brand of dog (Hebrew National, Nathans, etc), but do you prefer mustard, ketchup, chili, onions, etc? Please list brands and if possible pictures so that we can look for items in the grocery stores. It's 3:35 AM and I want a hot dog Thanks

For me it's tomato ketchup, American mustard and cooked onions.
It's the best combination for me.
I've just had breakfast, but I could murder a hot dog right now.

When I do, Nathan's Famous is my brand. I prefer a Brat, knockwurst, or an Italian sausage. Mustard is my condiment and Trader Joe's Dijon being my favorite although dark and seedy mustards are appreciated. Sauerkraut is good. I have not had a Chilidog in ages. Diced onions is also good.

Nathans pan seared with ketchup, yellow mustard, sweet relish, cheddar cheese, jalapenos and all this smothered in chili topped with fresh sliced onion. Really if you think about it is this too much to ask for.

When in NYC, Jersey or the mood, a dirty water variety dog with mustard and onions or a "ripper".
When in the mood, a Chicago dog run through the garded. Never been to the place though.
Over all, the dog is best when made with a natural casing so it has a good snap.

Never, even as small child have been able to do anything "spicey" etc. Only do beef/pork once a week but only get "local" brand, skin on (like the "pop" too). Indoor grill on Geo Foreman. Sure y'all with laff but too bad. My stomach tells me what I can handle or not...food wise. Butter on the roll (certainly not garlic butter), slice of American cheese on other side. Usually slice crossways after half way done. Whites: supposedly can't buy 'em West of Buffalo but somebody likes them, can buy thru the manu. Details here zweigles.com/Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY

Gotta say "Hebrew Nationals" also, (DGD) First mustard, relish (either kind, sweet or not), & onions. Sometimes Chili, Sharp Cheddar cheese and onions. But, never and I mean never Sauerkraut! God awful nasty stuff keep it your self please.

Johnsonville Beef Brats, chopped white onions, generic spicy brown mustard, maybe some lettuce, maybe a packet of ketchup if I have one, a whole jalapeno on the side, and some chips - lightly salted plain ones are fine. And a Coke.

Any hotdog/brat/sausage any brand. Love them. I can go classic with mustard and relish. I also make a spicy relish that I enjoy when I get enough jalapenos. That route I want it on a bun usually. I make several jars of kraut a year to eat with them also (making a few more jars tomorrow actually) but that way I don't usually do bread, just kind of mix it up in a bowl.
I usually have buckets of non spicy banana peppers to do stuff with , I like to slice them and "pickle" them in apple cider vinegar. Love those on hot dogs as well.
I have to run to the store tonight now, will be having one of the options above for dinner now.

Wow, incredible suggestions so far, keep them coming. There is a hot dog place in Columbus, Ohio called Georges Coney Dogs. 40 years or so he has been serving dogs on the small side ( think like a similar version of a White Castle burger), so people would eat 5 or so, but they had a fine coney sause and very finely minced bermuda onions as standard issue. I haven't been able to find bermuda onions like that anywhere.

Usually Hebrew National or Kosher Zion dogs. Whole wheat or Sourdough buns. Most often French's mustard, sweet relish and canned chili. Occasionally we like to add sauerkraut. we also do a homemade version of the Der Weinersnitzel Polish Sandwich. Kountry Boys hot link on seeded rye with sauerkraut, spicy mustard and provolone.

So are you guys seared or water hotdog lovers? We usually boil because we are lazy, but I prefer to grill them until the skin cracks in a cast iron skillet.

Hebrew National All Beef hot dogs grilled... with ketchup, mustard and home made relish...when out I go to the local "Dog-et All" a small locally owned hot dog place that serves sauerkraut steamed with beer...and 3 sizes...great little hot dog place...always crowded because it is so good. Mostly take out but room for about 20 people at small tables.

Corn dogs...hot out of the oven and dipped in just a dab of ketchup. Just had'em earlier this week.
Hebrew & Nathan...both good. Beef preferred. Ketchup, mustard, onions & green peppers (sauteed in butter). OR...the dog drowned in chili with onions and shredded sharp cheddar piled high.
SO many ways to enjoy a dog.

Hebrew National All Beef Hotdogs grilled... with spicy brown mustard, my own homemade hotdog chili, chopped yellow onions on a white bread bun.
Alternative: Johnsonville Brats cooked on a charcoal grill, spicy brown mustard, Boarshead Sauerkraut, on a sourdough bun.

Hebrew Nation dogs grilled on a bun w/ yellow mustard, white onions, relish and shredded cheddar cheese. When in the mood will have Polish sausage dog on a Hogie roll with suarkrout , & brown mustard. Like to grill the Polish and Hogie roll as well.

Chili cheese and onions is my favorite with hot sauce or a good horseradish mustard. Good eats👌👍👍
PS Either Nathan’s or any quality hot dog. I can’t eat Ball Park brand....they do crazy things to my stomach!!

I love hot dogs and sausages! Here in Arizona we can’t go far without seeing a Sonoran hot dog stand. Way to busy for me but the good stands will have a line for them.

We also have a local hot dog place called "JayBees" that has sold millions and they have a footlong Coney dog with fantastic onions. I think the key is to have the proper Coney sause. Some people swear that Koegels is the best there is: www.amazon.com/Koegel-Chili-Hotdog-Topping-4-13oz/dp/B00FA8NJDCThey also sell their own brand of hot dogs.

Hot dogs just don't seem to have the popularity of a hamburger when eating out. To me hotdogs are a make at home food except for the rare occasion when I seek them out. Although our local corner store offers six kinds we have never partaken.
