Multiples of everything: CC 1997, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2009, and 2013, #24, #25, #27, 40th, Yenidge Supreme, Classic Samsun, Katerini Classic, Aurora, Tudor Castle, Smyrna #1, SJW, and ‘83 McCranie’s. Bulk: #2025, #2015, #2035, #5100. I was fortunate to heedlessly stockpile tins since 1997, and a fair number of those tins have been disbursed in order to expand the variety of my cellar.

Yeah, I forgot about the 35 Year Stave Aged tins, the Butera Royal Vintage Dark Stoved tins, Rich Virginia, Contest Winner, Mind Meld, and who knows what else. Too bad I never got around to buying McClelland...
I guess I'll just have to make due with the 30 lbs I got.

I didn't much get into the McClelland thing, though I did like the Red Virginias that they produced. Maybe 30 or so tins of McCranie's 1996, 2000, 2008 Red Ribbon and Red Flake; 20 or so tins of Christmas Cheer from various years; a crapload of 40th. 20 or so tins of the Virginia numbers, 10 tins of Red & Black, 10 tins of Tawney Flake, 4 or 5 tins of Jubilee, a few tins of Dark Star, a few tins of each of various Frogs from 2013, Blackwoods Flake, Virginia Woods; a couple of lbs each, more or less, of 2015, 5100, 2100, and ECR; 10 tins of Balkan Blue, several tins each of Beacon, Beacon Extra, and Tudor Castle; the odd tin of Deep Hollow, and other McClelland Aros, Yenidge Supreme, and probably a few other odds and ends. Most of this accumulated over the last 6 years, with the intention of smoking some of it and just not getting around to it and buying more without knowing I had some in the bins. I knew about the closure well before it was announced and could have stockpiled a lot, but only limited to the Numbers, the 40th, and a few others to try out. & "Yeah, I forgot about the 35 Year Stave Aged tins, the Butera Royal Vintage Dark Stoved tins, Rich Virginia, Contest Winner, Mind Meld, and who knows what else. On the one hand, reading through your list while remembering your opening statement, "I didn't much get into the McClelland thing", tells me something appears to be a bit out of sync. On the other hand, looking at the videos and pics of other cellars, you might have a point.😁 PS Full disclosure: The sarcasm alert went off, especially during the last post.😁

I have a fairly large amount of McC in my cellar; a little over 38 pounds; all tinned.
However, I was a die hard McC fan for years and prefer aged McC blends. So, I already had a fairly deep McC aging queue going of my favorites long before McC ran out of Syrian Latakia. I sat back and got entertained watching the last minute panic buying of McC when their Syrian Latakia ran out. Although not happy that they were closing, I did the same thing when 5100 was discontinued and they closed up shop shortly after that.
I'll give a list of the blends, but not amounts. Suffice it to say, that I’ll be smoking my favorites for a long time:
40th Anniversary #6 #8 #24 #27 Balkan Blue Beacon Christmas Cheer 02, 08, 09, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 Frog Morton's Cellar IAPSC (a small run VaPer made for IAPSC in 2001) Old Dog Organically Grown Flake (OGF) Pebblecut Rich Virginia Ribbon Rose of Latakia Stave-Aged 35 Three Oaks Three Oaks Syrian

Serious street cred! Good for you John....you bought intelligently on the commodities market...no regrets. Having had a few favorites go out of production over the years, I work on the principle of if I like it, cellar it deep while I can. It paid off in this case. I’ll be smoking my favorite McC blends for a long time.

I can't complain, I have just enough to treat myself, if prudent for the next several years.
I respect Mike and Mary McNeil immensely, they went out at the top of their game when the timing was right on so many levels...but I wish in light of the FDA deeming rules, there was an option for someone else to gain the rights to the recipes and the trademarks...but the door was slammed shut on that possibility. Their brand, their choice and I respect that....I just wish it would have worked out differently for our our other budding tobacco buds coming up in the hobby.
For instance...those that tasted the old Rattray's blends say the current production falls short...having not tasted the old stuff, I am glad that the current stuff is available, I like it.

Ditto on Rattray's. I’ve only had the current K&K production and like it.

Interestingly enough, a friend who trekked across Scotland as a young man, and who spent many happy hours at Rattray's, says that the K&K is pretty much like the blends he smoked at Rattray's.

We all wish that! But what in the deeming rules prohibit the sale of a company to another? I believe they could have sold it lock, stock, and barrel, but chose not to. But I'd love to know for sure.

The choice to close the company was theirs. They turned down offers from other manufacturers to buy McClelland. They didn't trust anyone else to produce blends to their standards. The deeming rules had nothing to do with it. If anything did, it was Mike McNeil's health issues, coupled with the drop in production and quality brought about by the ending of Federal Tobacco farm subsidies. Growers are turning away from tobacco because it doesn't pay. Many of them are growing hemp and some are planning to grow boo when it becomes legal in their state. It's strictly a business decision.

A big chunk of my stash is 30 tins of Yenidje Highlander that was discontinued some time before McClelland's demise. Glad I got the heads up about that one before it was gone.
