Anybody have any favorite "mash up" blends where you simply mix together 2 or 3 other blends? I call mine Pegasus River. It’s simply 2 parts C&D Pegasus and 1 part C&D Green River Vanilla. I consider it my personal codger blend.

I have a leftover English and Balkan jar, one jar of leftover Virginia blends and then one specific blend I made from a pouch of Sir Walter Raleigh mixed with Peterson's whiskey flavored blend and some Perique. I call that one Whiskey Walter. It is pretty good.

I keep a bunch of small mixed blends from ends.....so I call it. I have 5 different blends jarred that I’ve been smoking for years. Two are after dinner dessert blends. One being a Maple Cake I’ve made for many years, for me it’s a fabulous smoke!! When Mac B released their Burley Flake I guess I expected to much, definitely not as good as Solani and fell short of Wessex as well......a little blah for me. So, I made a blend with 75% Mac B Burley Flake and 25% ODF.....it’s exactly what I was looking for, now have some aging.

I used to have another one, but the ingredients are out of production:
1 tin of McC Arcadia mixed with 1 tin of McC Aurora

50/50 Black Twist XX and ODF 50/50 Penzance and 1-Q 50/50 McC 40th Anniversary and Stokkebye Oriental Penzance and 1-Q.... At first it sounds like an odd combination to think of trying, but I see how that could turn out OK.

I mix one part Five Brothers and two parts Lane 1-Q. I guess that would make it Five-Q.

I mix one part Five Brothers and two parts Lane 1-Q. I guess that would make it Five-Q. Steve Fallon says he does Royal Yacht with 5 brothers. 3/4 to 1/4... I think he said bottom quarter of the bowl is 5 brothers. As for me, I have had too many funky results mixing tobacco’s.

My standard is BCA and 1-Q.
I always have it in the rotation and smoke a bowl almost every day.
I would recommend to try it if anyone has both kicking around.
The only other time I try blending is when I have less-than-a-bowl of something.

I mix Carter Hall with BCA in about 70/30 ratio. Although now that I picked up some Watch City Deluxe Crumb Cut, I don’t go to it much.

I have a blend I have been smoking for a couple years now that I call Strider. It's a 50/50 mixture of Dunbar and Cardiff. I wanted to give Cardiff some body, but keep the topping around.
I think once I have smoked this batch, I'll change the blend again. Dunbar is just so good alone- Why blend it? I was thinking maybe ODF or Bold Kentucky would work with the Cardiff. Something rich, oily, and strong to carry that bright VA and sweet topping the distance. As tasty as Cardiff is, it can burn like paper on its own and even get a bit cigarette-like at times if not sipped.
Working on a few others, but I'm not gonna give them cool names and brag till I know they're worth smoking. haha

Last fall in “what are you smokong” I had posted that I had 2 flakes of HH Virginia Flake and 2 coins of Escudo. So I took 1 of each and rubbed them out and loaded them up. Found it quite enjoyable. Escudo has never been very high on my list. But enjoyed this very much. I took the last 2 pieces and rubbed them out and jarred it up for a few days. Let it dry about 20 minutes and enjoyed it very much. I liked this so much, I opened a tin of each just to do this. I won’t mix them all together. I just may want the HH Virginia on it’s own, and as mentioned, Escudo on its own isn’t big for me. But I will take 2 or 3 of each and rub them out and jar them and enjoy it over the next few weeks. The other thing I have done is. I took a new tin of each and put them in a ziplock bag times 4. Dated 10/2019, 10/2020, 10/2023 and 10/2028. This way I can try each with some age on them solo and together. Or I’ll have some aged Escudo I can sell here! LOL

The only other time I try blending is when I have less-than-a-bowl of something. I had an ounce or so of BCA that I had a few bowls of. Didn't get much of anything from it so tossed the bag in with my odds and ends. I always have 1Q in supply so thought I would throw some 1Q in the bag roughly 50/50. More of the same nothingness for me. Even stripped away whatever flavors 1Q brings. Not sure if maybe I just don't have the taste buds to pick up whatever cavendish brings (kind of like color blindness for the taste buds). Its funny because a lot of blends I like have cavendish in them so there must be something I like.

I mix one part Five Brothers and two parts Lane 1-Q. I guess that would make it Five-Q. or 7Q? I tried mixing the remains of two pouches. Didn't end well. I think I'll try this again but put more thought into it. Thanks for the reminder, johnlawitzke.

Can I ask what consideration goes into mashing up blends?
Do you mix an aro with an English? What flavours pair well?
I.e. Where do I start?

I generally mix aromatics with medium to strong burley blends like Five Brothers, Pegasus, etc. I like the taste and aroma of certain aromatics, but want to be able to tell that I'm smoking tobacco too.
