If you find Prince Albert a one dimensional smoke, a pinch of BCA can help.

If you find Prince Albert a one dimensional smoke, a pinch of BCA can help. Probably the route I should go with my aro's, get some more Burley, and use as a condiment.

Yes, but go in small increments, as the burley can really dominate. I mixed 25% Lane Burley with 75% of their Burley & Black and it was too much.

Thanks for the advice...yeah, I figure go small and keep a journal.
I have so many journals that have never been written in that the kids bought me.

Anybody have any favorite "mash up" blends where you simply mix together 2 or 3 other blends? I call mine Pegasus River. It’s simply 2 parts C&D Pegasus and 1 part C&D Green River Vanilla. I consider it my personal codger blend. I mixed some Granger with some Lane Vanilla Black Cavendish. It turned out to be a good mix.

Recently mixed Wilkes "High Hat" and Peter Stokkebye's "Luxuray Bulleseye Flake" 1:1 by weight. Not being a fan of Latakia, "High Hat" smelled, and burned just a little too leathery, and had a slight creosote taste towards the bottom of the bowl. Me, no like. The room note/fragrance of straight "High Hat" is unique. Great, classic tobacco blend, but it just didn't strip my gears...so I mixed it, diluted it, cut it, with some LBF, to castrate that ballsy Latakia. The additional Virginias and the added Perique, seemed to smooth out all the rough spots and sweetened up the HH considerably. From the jar/pouch it smells like sweet raisins and dried figs. I liked this combo enough for me to mix up a 8 oz batch, press it into a crumble-cake, age it, and then, smoke it. The BC addition, added some pleasant sweetness to the grassy Virginias, and the Latakia hit became almost unnoticeable. Oh...it was still there, but it no longer tasted or smelled like a burnt shoe. (How do you Lat-Bomb guys do it)?
I would've never bought, and then mixed, these two, classic blends together to create/discover this Englishy, Va-Per marriage....but I was gifted some sample packets of each, at the NY Pipe Show. So, I experimented, and found something that I can live with. I still prefer my cigar-leaf concoction more, and it will probably remain my favorite, go-to blend, but this latest hybrid, tasted pretty good and smells great, too.

Aylesbury Luxury Flake and virtually any red Va 1:1 is pretty darn good mix.

Be careful, mixing two unobtaniums together could lead to a nuclear chain reaction. Only unobtainium from online retailers. Very available from B&M's.😉

Can I ask what consideration goes into mashing up blends? Do you mix an aro with an English? What flavours pair well? I.e. Where do I start? For me, the thought just pops in my head and I try it. I often just blend up a bowl's worth to try the idea before blending a larger batch. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. A good place to start is adding some Black Cavendish to a blend that you find harsh to smooth it out some. Another starting point is to mix a couple blends that you like to see if you like the result. Also, something to try is a parfait bowl, i.e. layer one blend on top of another in the bowl. I know several old timers who do this.

G&H Bob's Chocolate Flake w/SG Kendall Cream Deluxe Flake, 50/50... rubbed out, mixed well, and well-dried, smoked in a MM Patriot or Spool.
Mash up blends presents an almost infinite kaleidoscope of possibilities...
