Mad Men had Paul Kinsey (played by Michael Gladis) who pretty much always seen with a pipe, either smoking or cleaning it. I heard he's a pipe smoker outside of his role so that might be a part of it. Alas the only other one in the show I can think of is one of the partners, Lane Pryce (Jared Harris), who has pipes and a humidor in his office, but I don't remember if he ever smokes them in any of the scenes. I'm a sucker for period dramas from that era, this one's gotta be my all-time favorite though. Seeing some pipes in there was a nice bonus. Unrelated to the topic, but still weakly connected... reading "smoking" and "entertainment" I can't but think of the "walkin' around like John Barrymore with a fuckin' cigarette holder" scene Joe Pesci and Robert De Niro have in Casino(1995), always gets me going:

Regarding the Van Cleef pipe, I watched 'The Good the Bad and the Ugly' again last night, and there seems to be markings on the left side of the pipe - K&P had them there, but I don't thing Wellingtons (WDC) did. Also, while the Wellington stems generally had the stem shown in the movie, Petersons also had that stem design - it just wasn't as common. But who knows? (or cares?)
In any event, the contemplation led to a pleasant evening re-watching a great movie.

The first few seasons of Night Court had quite a bit of pipe smoking. Back when it was prime-time, I never missed that show. There are a lot of people out there who never had the pleasure of planning their evenings around watching an episode of their favorite show, which only came on once a week. Or even planning their snacks and bathroom breaks around commercials.
