How many of you have purchased 2 or more of the same pipe? That is, same maker, same series, same finish, same shape.
I ask, because I really enjoy my Peterson Sherlock Holmes Squire rusticated PLIP as an everyday pipe. And though I have no problem having several of the same corncobs; I feel a little foolish getting another Squire just like the one I have. There are several other pipes I'd like to try; and would also like to try a smooth Squire.
Just wondering what your thoughts are on this.

I've never bought more than one of the same pipe.I think though if you want another Squire and you have the money go for it.

I'd say that's not all that unusual. When I've found a shape I like I have often acquired multiples of it from the same maker. An example would be my 4 Edwards Pots. If it works for you just do it !

That’s an excellent question 👍👍👍
I own 10 different MM Country Gentleman Pipes, 4 MM Dagner Poker Pipes and 3 different Savinelli 320’s with slight variations. ALL excellent smokers.

I have the Not identical twin to this pipe. it is a light brown smooth finish. I would have never bought 2 0f the same pipe, (except for cobs) if it hadn’t been for the B&M discounting if I took both. I’m glad I did. They are good smokers. It doesn’t hurt that I have a second home and keep one at each.

...I've never done that, but I see nothing wrong with it... if you feel so inclined, go for it...

If you really like a pipe, why not have 7 or more if you want to. A guy on the other forum has 2 dozen Savinelli 320s. I have 2.

I have 2 Savinelli Tundra Blownblast 315 EX. I like the way the big bowl smoked and picked up two. That is the only pipes that I have that are the exact same. I have pipes in the same series but they are not identical.

I have several matched pairs, often the result of sales. 5 Sav Christmas pipes from 2014. If cobs qualify, I have 76, 16 of which are Prides and multi matching on others.

I see nothing wrong with it.
I don't think I would though. I like the variety (cobs are an exception).

I have three Punto Oro 904s, one a silver military mount, and one Punto Oro 9004 also a silver military mount. They were each purchased from eBay unsmoked for less than $50 each. They smoke well, but no better than any of the others.

I would be happy to have one of each style of Savenilli 320. 🙂 Scout eBay, there are deals to be had. Most of my 904/9004 collection is from there and I paid between $16 and $55 for all of them.

The only pipe I have two of are WO Larsen pipes with wind caps... bought one, and saw his brother looking lonely. Chasingembers rules the roost on keeping families together.

I'd say that if there is one pipe that does it for ya, I see no issue in building an entire rotation of the same pipe.
I have a few Grabow Colour Dukes in the same model/shade. They came as a bundle on eBay and I like them enough that I toss a couple in a bag when I go to camp. I have also considered adding another Grabow Royalton Bulldog to the shelf as I love the one I have, though is dedicated to aromatics. You can smell the Exotic Orange on that pipe twenty feet away. haha

Shape or brand/shape collecting is a lot of fun. I love seeing groups of like pipes. Most have some variation but it's your collection to build.

Thanks, I was told that they look like Former’s pipes back at the old WO Larsen Pipe Works... a lot of pipes never had the makers mark. If Tonni Nielsen is in Vegas this year, I am going to ask him if he can shed any light.

I have five Savinelli 320 KS pipes in different finishes. These pipes smoke so well for me that I had to stock up. I also have two Savinelli Bing's Favorites, one smooth and one rusticated. They all are exceptional smokers.

Savinelli's 904/9004 has the perfect sized conical chamber for me and is an effortless clencher. Plus restoring the used ones has been very satisfying!👍
