My friend has 2 of the 8oz bags of Stonehaven that he wanted me to list on Ebay for him, but now I'm not sure if I want to do that. They’d sell here on the Patch and you would be doing a member or two a favor👍 Until they ask top dollar and the get roasted for being a greedy, money hungry, take advantage of'er. like me.

Many on here do not take advantage. A few months ago I purchased an 8 .oz sealed bag of Stonehaven super cheap from a member of the Patch.....$50.00 plus shipping. He did it as a favor. Any price under $145.00 for a few year aged sealed Stonehaven .8oz bag is a bargain.....if you have the funds to blow.

When I sold my “ 3 collector tins “ on eBay it was stated winning bidder “ must “ use Visa, PayPal not accepted. Had no issues, will I do again......NOPE!!! Not worth the trouble one can get in! Mastercard, in addition to PayPal, has their own complex rules about tobacco sales. I am pretty sure buying tobacco illegally on eBay breaks those rules The Mastercard rules are why a lot of legitimate online pipe tobacco vendors prefer Visa -- it's just easier on them.
I have gotten a few calls from my Mastercard because of pipe tobacco purchases... I never answer their questions. I have noticed that they are of a probing nature as if they are trying to get me to discuss my purchases. I insist on verifying the purchase of interest based on time of the transaction alone and end the call. Now that I know, I may have to look into moving my credit business to a Visa-based company.

PhantomWolf.............I’ve noticed in the past few months a number of businesses here in NC have posted on their doors before you eat or shop........” Sorry, MasterCard is no longer accepted “. I canceled mine just over two years ago from similar issues you had. I’ll take Visa and Wells Fargo thank you. I also have a PayPal account, but once they start with their idiotic questions they’re history!!!

Interesting. Do you think NC businesses that are doing that are showing solidarity for an industry that is so integral to the region?
Maybe it really IS time I shopped around for a new credit provider... I abhor being told what to do. It's been a boon and a obstacle throughout my life. haha

Many restaurants and stores no longer accept AE due to the fact they don’t need another partner in their business. The fee’s to retailers are getting out of hand, let alone the interest rate to the consumer.

I haven't found a bar or restaurant that rejected it, and it's been a few years now.
I'm sure the company derives some kind of value from it.
For my own personal use, paying $500/year for the privilege of carrying an Amex made no sense.

Fact merchants make money on the credit card machines they use. Fact the people who do the processing at the POS are not the owners of the credit card company. Fact my wife makes bank cards work for anyone who wants to argue about it.

This brings up a thought I had awhile back. I was thinking about the the McClelland I stocked up on and started wondering if I would have time to smoke it. It would be just my luck for the moose to tighten further and leave me with a horse of wasted tobacco.

Mastercard has decided to be a social justice warrior credit card company, and has determined that legal firearms transactions are not allowed.
Screw em.

My last whole leaf shipment that was flagged as illegal and refunded was paid for with a Mastercard (BoA). I'd never had an issue until then and had always used my Visa Debit card.

Ebay strikes again!
1. I sold a set of golf clubs and Ebay put a hold on my money because they wanted me to use their "shipping application". Then Paypal (who Ebay owns) put a hold on my money and now Ebay is claiming they have no control over Paypal and my money is stuck in limbo!
2. I bought a putter on June 26th and the seller (who uses Ebay's shipping application) created a shipping label on Ebay (which, according to Ebay constitutes shipment) but has not shipped the putter. USPS has never received the item and Ebay refuses to help because according to their records, the item has been shipped.
As for Amex, I gladly pay their fee because any time I buy on line I use it and if their is anything shady, Amex refunds my money and fights the battle for me. So in the above example, I will dispute the payment for the putter and my money will be back in my account in minutes, then Paypal and the seller can fight with Amex!

That is total BS on their part... when you use paypal shipping, after you create a label, and before it gets scanned into the system at the PO, it clearly states “Label has been created USPS awaiting item”. As each day goes by we see more examples of the tech nerds arrogance.

There is no governing body and nothing that can be done to police them!

eBay spun off Paypal a few years ago, so the firms are no longer connected. 2. eBay's "guarantees" are worthless. Call your credit card issuer. Every credit card does this. The issuing banks get paid by you, the end-user, so they will happily screw over merchants and ask questions later. It's all very consumer-friendly

Their customers are banks that issue credit cards, not you and me. We are still ultimately their customers. You and I don't pay Mastercard, Inc any money. They don't particularly care what we think, as long as we know they are widely accepted. That's literally all they want us to know or care about.
(The issuing banks, on the other hand, care very much about your opinion -- they want your money!)

By "spin off" I mean they sold their interest in Paypal. You can go buy a piece of paypal right now, if you like. It's a public firm.

No argument on who issues a credit card and to whom payments are made. However, I am still a customer of Mastercard. If I cancel my card, because I don't like their policies, Mastercard does lose a customer. The bank doesn't necessarily, since they usually offer alternate cards. When I switched from Mastercard to Visa, I simply called my bank and asked them to close one and open the other. I'm still a customer of the bank. If enough people cancel their cards, Mastercard would care. Alas, our pipe smoking community is too small to make a dent.
