I drink coffee & tea without any additives. When I do, milk in tea & real cream if I have it in coffee. Wife has hazelnut crap in her 1 cup of coffee every morning. If you go into a restaurant in the US & ask for cream, you normally get a cream substance. May be dairy but most likely not.

We started out with a stove top perculator and used it for many years. She made a mean pot of coffee that way. I got a drip maker with a timer on it so the coffee would be ready when we got up. I moved up to the home version Bunn and now I have a commercial Bunn that all I have to do is add grounds and push a button. We go through 3 pots every morning so I need fast turnaround to make more.

I hope that coffee was not chicory made from dried ground up dandelion roots that's some vile nasty stuff. Chicory isn't dandelion. It actually makes a smoother cup of coffee.

With the French pressed coffee I only use milk, cream, or half and half and a little sugar. The instant coffee gets CoffeeMate powder, Cocoa powder, Benefiber, sugar and milk.

Heavy cream in my coffee. Ketchup on fries and meatloaf. Nothing on steak but salt, pepper, and a pat of butter.

I rub steak with olive oil and sprinkle it with dry rub before I barbeque. No steak sauce unless it is low quality beef, in which case I season with a little soy sauce and Lea and Perrins Worcestershire sauce.

With the utmost respect Chicory sucks and Mrs Olson wont drink it and Juan Valdez wont pick it and nobody ever said the best part of waking up is Chicory in your cup. So there.

I have been told that the chicory was added during WWII because of coffee shortages. It stretched out the available coffee. Some people had to drink straight chicory and developed a taste for it. I like it sometimes, but not every day. It's especially good with beignets at 800 Decatur St. On a Sunday morning. With milk.

I didn't start drinking coffee until I was 40 and I got hooked on expresso. I will try any coffee at least once. My son's favorite is Café du Monde with chicory and he has been drinking coffee since he was 12.

If you don't want chiccory in your cafe then don't order coffee in 'Nawlins. BTW, French Market is the best with Community Coffee right behind ! Drink 'em 'Nawlins style, lot's of real cream and sugar the right way to start the day !

This thread is hilarious!
A friend owns a high end steak restaurant and they put a small amount of their world famous steak sauce over a steak and it is amazing. It's a secret family recipe and I tried for years to get it from him but no dice. He ships this steak sauce all over the world and I give it as gifts at Christmas. It's also amazing to saute mushrooms in it! Put equal amounts of the sauce and butter in a pan and saute the mushrooms.....amazing.
Lannings is the name of the restaurant in Akron, Ohio and you wont be disappointed if you have him ship you a bottle!

By the way I have had coffee in New Orleans it was nasty as were the beignets. Café du Monde has to be the dirtiest hole in all the city. The only way to get the taste out of mouth was to have a proper lunch at K-Paul's. Don't get me started on Bourbon Street since 1717 people have been peeing and puking on that street and that's why they rinse it off every night. If one wishes to visit a proper old city I suggest San Francisco better food, better booze, better buildings, better transit, better hotels, better sports teams, better China town, better museums etc, etc. Oh and the coffee and chocolate and salt water taffy are better too. Neanderthal travel tip you can take to heart.

The makers of Luzianne still use chicory in their coffee. They claim that chicory unlocks coffee flavor--mellows the blend and removes bitterness. That is the only coffee my mother ever bought.

You guys ever light up powdered creamer for fun. Yep. Took a tin can and screwed a nipple in the bottom and hooked it up to a compressor air gun. Put a half bottle of creamer in it and squeezed the trigger over an open fire. Hint:don't do this indoors. My mom thought that the rice dryers down the road blew up again.
