I stuck around and tried to get her to go to counseling with me, and to get help of some kind, but she refused. I tried until I could say that I did everything I could and I couldn't stand any more and that I would never feel guilty about leaving. She never got treatment and finally married a wealthy older man who was always gone on business. She is estranged from her family. She is where she wanted to be I believe. We really did love each other. I have been happily married now for 42 years and I wouldn't change a thing. I found out a few years ago something that I could never have accepted at that time, she was molested by her father. You wouldn't believe all the women that I have known who were molested by their fathers, brothers, uncles, etc. I couldn't accept that this was a thing that really happened in "good" families.
I have no idea why I just typed this in a Revolver thread on a pipe forum. I guess we're all friends here.

Just a bunch of gun guys shootin' the shite about revolvers. Sometimes other stuff comes up; it's normal. PS Speaking about other stuff, budsgunshop has a sale on the S&W M&P Bodyguard in 380. Two 6-rnd mags, Integrated Crimson Trace, DAO, 12.3oz unloaded, 2¾" barrel for $269 free shipping. If you're current or former military, S&W will send you a $40 prepaid Mastercard. S&W 380 Not a bad deal if you like the new crop of teeny 380s.

I like the S&W 380 OK, but I already have a LCP with a laser and 3 holsters so I will stick. I haven't found anything to complain about yet as it goes bang with any ammo I feed it.

I get the .380 in a Walther or Colt 1908 but why would anyone put a .380 cartridge in a revolver when a .38 Special will do?

There is a .380 bodyguard pistol as well as a .38 Special revolver. Pretty sure he is talking about the semi auto pistol.

That's why it comes with two 6-round mags.

On the topic of the Kimber revolver, I like the longer barreled, exposed hammer version best. Have not shot one yet, but have dry fired several of the concealed hammer variation. They have excellent double action triggers. I could see picking one up some day.

The Kimbers are very nice. It's impressive that a company would create a new revolver from scratch these days, especially a smaller company like Kimber. I haven't seen one in person but I hear good things.

NAA and Seecamp started the whole teeny .32 then .380 pistol craze, then it took off with Kel Tec's teeny, light, and cheap .380. Now lots of people make one; Ruger's LCP is Buds' best selling pistol.

I load my LCP with alternating rounds of Buffalo Bore 100 grain hard cast lead and Gold Dots. This solves the penetration vs expansion issues. Top load is the BB hard cast.

I just cant get onto the teeny pistol wagon. There is always a balance between comfort in carry and and effective stopping power, and that balance is different for each person. There is no right and wrong answer. But as someone who has lived where I actually had to depend on my sidearm probably saving my life, from both 4-legged and 2-legged predators, I always opted for the shootable side of the scale. I learned to comfortably carry and conceal heavier weapons. That's just me, but I sure feel better about it. The fastest growing area of danger for mass shooting are churches. Insurance companies are now calling places of worship and asking if there is a security detail or an active shooter plan in place. It's terrible. I was head of security for the church I attended in Alaska, and I am now on the 'known asset in case of trouble" list here in NC. The men that matter all know I carry. When the subject first came up, the pastor reached in his hip pocket and pulled out a slim, tiny little micro-auto of some kind. I smiled and nodded. And felt very reassured that I have a .45acp TRP Operator on my hip under a vest. In a day when shooters are showing up with rifles, AR's and AK's, I just cant see me meeting the threat with a 2" .380 or .38. Again, it's just me. But an experienced, capable man with a revolver of substantial heft, .357 mag or larger and with a bbl that will allow 8" accuracy at 50' need not feel undergunned. Ask yourself, how far is it across the local Wal-mart where you shop, or the sanctuary where you worship, to that nutbag with a rifle? Just my own philosophy, ponderings and musings. It carries no weight, and your view is just as valid

At my nephew's church in San Antonio everyone carries. They had a drug addict with a gun show up at an evening service. He had accepted Jesus Christ before the night was over.

The size and caliber of any weapon isn't nearly as important as the proficiency of the carrier. Ask yourself this ... can I be moving quickly forward, backward or side-to-side and still hit my targets? Have I ever practiced in a scenario where someone else is shooting back at me?
These are important factors in my opinion which, like everyone's, may vary.

Years ago my neighbor was a cop.He shot on a police shooting team..He gave me some tips..Use a gun that you can handle..He said..It doesn't matter what gun you use if you don't hit what you shoot at..He said don't just get the first shot Get the only shot..There are some beautiful pieces here..Almost makes me want go shopping though I really don't need anymore guns.

I can put a shot from my LCP in 4" at 30 feet, and I can hit a silhouette at 50 yards no problem. No one wants to get shot and a coward getting hit is going to have his plans disrupted. It's light and thin and works every time. Sure, if I knew I was going into trouble I would carry something battle rated, like my 17 shot, 42oz 9mm. But since I haven't been in need of a firearm in 68 years, I just can't see lugging it around. If I was going into the Montana backcountry I would have my 44 Blackhawk on my hip.

If I ever travel into the back country of Montana and land of Griz, I will be taking something way bigger than my .44 Redhawk. A double rifle in .500 Nitro Express? A M2.50? A Panzerfäust? While I love bears, Griz is not something to underestimate.

I cannot keep up with the modern developments in concealed carry nor can I afford them. So, when called upon, this old Colt from years ago, is what is in my pocket.

38 Special on top, 22 Mag NAA with laser on the bottom. You wouldn't believe how accurate it is. I keep 22 Mag Hornady Critical Defense ammo in it. It isn't any more powerful than the 22lr in the short barrel, but the noise and muzzle flash will make the bad guy think he was shot by a 357.😎🤠

44 Special Blackhawk on top, 44 Mag snubbie on the bottom. (My friends call it the Mortor.) 27oz, only 3 oz heavier than the Colt Cobra.

I have bids in on a nickle plated Colt Official Police and another on a nickle plated Police Positive. Likely I will be outbid but you never know. I love those old Colts... unfortunately, so does 10,000,000 other guys.

@phantomwolf, I was looking back through the thread and I came across your 357 pic. I wanted one of those a few years ago when Gander Mountain had them for $309. That was a heck of a deal. I looked one of them over carefully and I was planning on coming back to get it the next month. Of course they were out of them and never got any more. A guy who lives and works in the ritzy part of Houston was mugged getting out of his car and he got one of those. The next month they tried again. The robber lived, but barely. Straight from hospital to prison. I would have loved to see the look on his face when he saw that huge magnum revolver spitting fire in his direction.
