Thank you Dan, it was great being there with a like minded citizen that takes these things seriously. It was like drinking from a fire hydrants with 91 speakers... I hope that I can retain most of what I learned..., Regardless, Mrs. Gottlieb kept the trains on the track on such a challenging schedule.... If anyone is interested, a good 3-45 minute segments of some of the subjects covered.... look for the 3 9/24 episodes.

Mine is identical. Haven't shot a picture of it yet. They are pretty sweet little gems.

That S&W will never let you down.
I had one, a blued version Model 36, for years and felt well armed.

What caliber is that snubby? 38 Special. Model 60. I have only had one J-frame in the past, a model 442.With bigger mitts, I have always liked K/L and N frames better. In recent years, I have started to appreciate the small snubnose revolvers. I know you can put a big grip on a J-frame, but it kind of defeats the purpose of one, which is the concealability. And they look goofy with a big grip.

Like it! Do they make it hammer less? I believe they still make both a hammerless version and one with a shrouded hammer.

Thanks, Charlie...re: guntalk.com/gun-talk-radio...enjoyed listening to a couple of the podcasts...stuff you don't really think about in advance...and that is the key...thinking about it in advance...really good critical information for those of us who consider keeping family alive and well.

She likes the PPK better but as with most woman she is a natural shooter. Men always overthink when shooting.

Thats good, all I read on the internet are guys complaining about how their PPK bites them. I don't recall bleeding when I had mine. It is a classic, glad they are making them again. Maybe I ..nah

The newer PPK/S holds one more round and just a smiggon longer in the grip. For men with bigger hands the CZ83 is a better option in .380 or 9x18. Not everyone likes the smaller rounds I think they are just fine. I skip right over anything that's says 9mm my least favorite pistol round. These days I just plink with a Crosman 1377 pump pistol in .177 weighing in at two pounds it makes a great training pistol and you can shoot it anywhere you want.

Sorry I sold it but that was what happened. The longer grip help with the thingy on the magazine. Recoil did not bother me but I am heavier than most women. I tried giving mine to my ex-wife to reclaim the Detective Special I gave her. No trade. She loves that Colt. The PPK/S I carried in a pocket. Not sure if the CZ83 would conceal as well.

To me there isn't that much difference between the PPK and the Makarov. Except the Makarov shoots better. It has been half a century since I shot the PPK, but it and the S&W model 57 left lasting impressions on me.

They do look similar. The only Makarov's I have seen were in the flap holsters of the Volkspolizi, Grenztruppen and their Red Army supervisors. Fortunately, no one had to pull on me.
From what I have read they are reliable and effective. They sell cheaply enough. If one ever showed up around here I might be interested.

We had one that I really liked a lot. My FIL was admiring it so I had to give it to him, of course. He gave it to a crack who.... arehouse. I should have taken the Combat Masterpiece when he offered it to me. 😖ðŸ¤

Love my Taurus .454 the neighbors said they saw black bear the other day so looks like I’ll be carrying this beast with me on my dog walks. I have to carry an ax handle with me now because the folks down the way like to let their pit run free. No thank you.

I should have thought of that when the next door neighbor's 2 pits got out and charged me...fortunately for me they were only playing and I only got bit twice by their playful teeth...had they been in serious mode, I most likely wouldn't be typing this note.

No sir you would not, I’ve dealt with pits before and if they are not raised right they are a scary animal. This pit followed me a quarter mile barking and dodging me and my husky. I will not hesitate to crack that head like an egg. Stupid people should not own or raise pits. They are great animals but the owners make them dangerous. Shame.

A neighbor let his large Pit Bull run wild on our Plaza. When I would visit my building there, the dog would attack me. My medicine was a short handled shovel., aka "D handle". You wack the dog on the head with that, he leaves you alone. Eventually, some one ran him down with a truck. Suspect still at large.

I doubt that bear will bother you but if you feel safer when walking your dog then that is your right. Me? I just carry a bucket of KFC and toss it. No bear can resist those 11 herbs and spices.

I live UP in the mountains so open carry is not an issue, and being North Carolina it’s a gun friendly state.

While there are more powerful firearms in the PPK size/weight category, one needs to use what one likes. Just a word of caution: the PPK and PPK/s are direct blowback with a very stiff recoil spring. On the target range they are moderately easy to make work, but anyone who carries one needs to realize that a very stiff grip is required for reliable cycling. They rank and easy #! on the Easy to Limp Wrist scale. Clamp down hard and thrust that arm out firmly, regardless if it's a one or two handed hold, and fight the recoil for all you are worth if you want them to work. Also, run them wet and test at least 100 of any given hollow point ammo before trusting it, they are finicky on the feeding. All of that being said, the PPK is a personal favorite of mine, because it's q jewel from a former era and James Bond, can't deny the silver screen as much as I would like.

My R51 is about the same size and weight as the PPK, shoots the same number of rounds but in 9mm +p. Much less recoil, easy to rack, and it's extremely accurate. I am very well pleased with it.
