We saw a spike in divorces during the sixties, if these women would have gotten their act together making coffee, these husbands would not have had to roam the streets for a good cup.

I have an electric percolator in reserve. It makes decent coffee, but scalding hot . . . .and I like hot coffee.

OMG! Those ads! I remember Mrs. Olson, but am amazed today at not only the sexist nature of those ads, but that they are just mean spirited.
Why couldn't those dudes make their own coffee?

A moka pot is NOT a percolator. The water is boiled to steam which is pushed up through the finely ground coffee to the upper pot. It makes excellent espresso if you do your part.

It makes 12 cups of decent coffee for a group in a short period of time. When I was a kid all the moms kept their percs plugged in all day and drank pot after pot. We unplug ours as soon as it's finished brewing. The coffee can always be microwaved in the rare event that it has a chance to get cold.

The coffee commercials remind me that Ranch Style Beans used to have "Husband Pleasing" on the label. I showed my wife and she has refused to buy or eat them ever since. Luckily, I discovered Western Style beans from Aldi that are much better.

Bought a french press today... beats the refillable k cup and Keurig by 1000%

Bought a french press today... beats the refillable k cup and Keurig by 1000% Makes for a "full on" and robust cup o' joe. I used one for years till it broke. That's when I moved on to my reusable basket filter system. It's the same thing as the press but if my filter breaks, it's cheaper to replace. But with fully submerged and steeped coffee, you get it all.

I feel spoiled with this thing and it was cheap. It makes a damn good cup of coffee though.
Now to find some better coffee....

Josh, try some Kona coffee...best flavor that I have found...used to be Jamaican, particularly the Wallingford Estate High Mountain bean...after the hurricane wiped out their plantation (in Jamaica, obviously) it now goes for big bucks in the Asian market.

The french press really brings out more flavor from my normal Colombian. That's what makes me want to try other coffees. The problem is, my TAD has been ridiculous lately and I really dont need to find another obsession (coffee). But, I think that's what is going to happen, and coffee can get EXPENSIVE.
I'll look into that Walt.

I still enjoy camp coffee in an old school enamel percolater on the camp fire. Don't even mind some grounds in the cup. I plan on having some in a few weeks when I am rockhounding up in Wyoming.

Bought a french press today... beats the refillable k cup and Keurig by 1000% The main problem with French presses is that the largest only makes 51oz. Our mugs hold 17oz each so only one of us gets a second cup. If my son wakes up then just one cup each. I think that the Europeans cup is 3 Oz our something ridiculously small. I guess when you can set around a sidewalk cafe in Austria the best size for a cup of coffee is small. But when you are late heading to work and you just want to fill your Yeti travel mug priorities change.

By far, my favorite way to make coffee. Ronv69 I'm the only one here that drinks coffee, wo a small pot is perfect. Well my son normally gets a few sips in the morning and afternoon, it's just our little thing

Campfire coffee always has a bigger kick than at home.
You just have to be careful, it can be so good that you end up with a caffeine hangover.

Here's a question for the snobs... What are your thoughts on moka pots?
I love mine. They don't have the PSI that a true espresso maker can generate, so they fall short of that lofty goal. But they get pretty damn close. And the absolute best, top-of-the-line moka pot that you can buy, is about $30. So your value ratio is off the charts.

I've been giving my boy "Daddy Coffee" since he was little (he's almost 12 now so not quite as little anymore)... a cup of hot milk and sugar with just a few drops of Cuban coffee...
On campouts he'll have a full cup... funny it doesn't occur to him except on campouts... but he LOVES having a coffee at the campout...

My boy is a year and a half old. He looks for it in the morning and after I get out of the shower in the afternoon. I just dip his pacifier in it a few times (another bad habit to break).
My oldest boy is 16, he loves coffee. One of my middle boys turns 10 tomorrow and cant stand it.

My wife made my 3 kids coffee milk and peanut butter toast all their lives, cut their slice of bread in 3 Little soldiers and they would dunk it in their coffee milk. One time she was sick and I took over the coffee milk chores, when I served it whole slice not cut, they started crying MOMA cuts it for us, real tears, how did I know? So out came the knife. They drank coffee milk forever, I would visit my Grandparents and out came the little white porcelain coffee maker, Grandmaw pouring hot water slowly, the Coffee creme bubbles rising 2 to 3 inches from the top. Served in a small cup, it was so strong it could probably oil a Harley, stayed with you all day, it came out the cup like syrup.

Use a Mocka or French every afternoon. Drip in the morning. (Thats cause I need 3 & wife needs 1 to get moving to do not much of anything the rest of the day. Retirement) Wouldn't be without a Mocka. Legend, get one!

Everything is better on a campfire! LOL. Specially breakfast, lunch & dinner. In the old days even threw an egg shell in the pot when brewing.
