It burned through my shirt and pants, but it didn't have enough time for any serious damage before all hell broke loose. It was a very sensitive spot that instantly rejects anything above 98.6F. So are you otherwise happy with the lighter, Ron, or did this experience cause you to stop using it? I'm guessing this happened to others, too, and that's why they changed the design. Let's just say that I pay very close attention when I use it every day.

Old boys are for the birds. Every one I’ve had has leaked. I love my zippo, have had it for eleven years and when I got a loose hinge, sent it back and they fixed it free and fast. Try using the zippo fluid you can buy in any camping section of wal mart for zippo hand warmers. Much less smell.

I can't operate this thing with my screwed up hands. The Pipemaster is very easy to operate, at least mine is.

I can't operate this thing with my screwed up hands. The Pipemaster is very easy to operate, at least mine is. Anything with a serrated cylinder plays hell on my fingers, I cannot pick up a screw or pill off of a table with my low finger strength.

I love mine and given the current price for this model, I got a great deal when I bought several years ago. I just ordered one like that.
Don't tell me what you paid for yours.

The Pipemaster is very easy to press down the button, which has a large surface area to press. Much easier than any other piezo lighter.

I've got one from the 60's which I had refurbished by a Company that specialized in the IM Corona lighters...they put new guts in it twice (or so they said)...but the flame just couldn't be adjusted properly like it was when it was new. Finally I gave up on it. But if I had a new one...I would use it daily as I had with the other one.

Here are a couple of my IM Corona's. They are well traveled work horses that after 20 some years have not let me down! As much as I love my IMCO's my true passion is for Dunhill, Davidoff and Dupont lighters. This beauty arrived in my mailbox today. A silver florentine pattern Rollagas pipe lighter in a beautiful Navy Blue box with the papers. This lighter came to me because as I always advise newcomers, "when someone asks what you are looking for at a pipe show, tell them". I'm very excited about this piece!

When/if I get tired of collecting old English pipes, I may start collecting lighters. For me, I love my Old Boys!

I have two Dunhills a sterling Rollalite I got back in '70 and a sterling Unique ( the lighter the Old Boy copies) my daughter bought me for my 50th b'day. These are my "Sunday go ta meeting... " lighters. My daily lighter is a brass Zippo w/ pipe insert I got back in Hong Kong in '69. It's truly an "old boy" .

I’ve been using a Zippo with pipe insert for several years now. I use Zippo fuel and really cannot detect anything in my pipes when using it. It’s rock solid reliable. I’ve got some other lighters that work fine indoors but I’d sure like to try an Old Boy; the design has been around a while and copied for a reason.

I don’t know Ron, fellow on EBay from North LA refurbishes them, said he had a special one for me, it’s too pretty to use.
