While playing for the right to go to the World Series, bottles and other things were hurled at Astros outfielders in game 3, in game 4 fans sitting near the bullpens fans demeaned the Astros pitcher who had nervous breakdown in earlier years, I can only say I have never seen that kind of dameanor in a Texas Stadium, so Astros deserve a really great shout out. New York not so much!

We have become a nation with too many entitled asshats who do what they want, take what they want. The norms, rules, values we are raised with are out.
So you see this kind of behavior at a Ball game.
I see it at the store when a guy loads the entire inventory of Kingsford Charcoal onto carts and takes them to checkout and his truck. Leaving the store empty of charcoal for the next couple of weeks, other people try to figure out to do with their grills? He does because he can. It is all HIS.
There is just an indifference to boundaries and limits on behavior. This has runs from social interactions to politics and sports.

Depends on who you talk to but many of the biggest winners in BBQ competitions say they don't care what charcoal they are using. They use whatever is free at the competition because it is provided by one of the sponsors. The best of the best though are against all charcoal. *writing this while using a 50/50 blend of Kingsford briquette and Cowboy lump making a test run of chicken wings*

I noticed that the faces in the crowd looked murderous last night. When the Astros lose the fans are just a little depressed, but the Yankees crowd looked to be in need of professional help. I guess the "Invincible Yankees" is just one of the stories that they tell themselves to make them keep thinking that NYC is a good place to live.

While in Norfolk Naval hospital I was able to convelese and then take leave, going to New York I was treated very well in uniform, just reported on the game not the people, setting the story straight.

Sure, you were treated well while in uniform. The war was still a fresh memory. Many NY residents had relatives who saw service and action, The 69th New York, for example. They appreciated your service in our Navy. How was it serving on The Monitor?

As a Yankee fan who’s family comes from the Bronx, it was very unsettling and upsetting to see such behavior

Sadly, this is a trend spreading over. I heard on NPR news that many Little League teams are having trouble finding Umpires. It seems, some parent fans are too abuse and even violent. Qualified people do not want to take the risk of assault and abuse. We have become obsessed with "Winning".

I have somehow found myself filling the position of an assistant wrestling coach here in the local high school for the season, only because the head coach is a fellow old cowboy, and needed some help. Sportsmanship can't be told, it's gotta be taught by example. And if grownups (including rotten parents) don't teach it to kids at the student level, the students grow up to be entitled, self-centered mean adults.
Knute Rockne said "One man practicing sportsmanship is far better than a hundred teaching it."
