Just finished my first ever bowl of Peterson's Irish Oak. Smoked in my little clay pipe. I now get why Virginia's are described as grassy tasting. An enjoyable, mild, smoke. I will reserve total judgement till I have had a few more bowls.

Earlier .. Old Dark Fired Plug Cut in a MM Legend.
I just set fire to a bowl of Peretti no. 8 Slice (‘16) in a J. Everett cutty egg with an ebonite stem. I have enough for 1 more bowl (maybe). I won’t make that mistake again.

MT Brandy Smooth. this is one of my hangers. Prince Albert original burley. I had a good day playing with my new wizard shirt. Leather lace up. The good news is it fits good. I ordered a XX Large and I was right. 🧥

Yesterday I enjoyed my Baraccini churchwarden filled with a mix, 2/3 Five Bros. and 1/3 Trout Stream. Well rubbed and slightly dried, and found myself a new avenue for aromatics. The Trout stream is very sweet from the bag. I knew after the first bowl I would be wanting to "thin" that out a bit. Although thin may not be the word when mixing Five Bros. with it. Needless to say, it was very enjoyable! More of a nuanced sweetness within the hearty Burley.
Right now I am having some Sutliff Burma Rd in the mini cobbitshire. This one is not in need of alteration, although I may still try.

What's best companion with pipe smoking even before a US MARSOC encounter in the Middle East? A boiled coffee. I am smoking Robert McConnell Latakia Flake while watching Jarhead: Law of Return (2019) in the subtitles a version of "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" is played.

Had another go at the Irish Oak today. I'm not sure its one I will buy again. It's not bad, It's just a bit milder than I generally go for.
