Trader Joe’s. Reduced guilt. Spinach and cheese stuffed shells it’s good and was only a couple bucks.

You might want to keep the white coats and the nets handy for this one...
I like to cook. Inventing stuff is a joy. (Like cashews in chili.) Today for lunch I scouted the fridge for edibles. Found a small handful of ground venison and had a brainstorm. Flattened it out and sprinkled FLAKED SWEETENED COCONUT over it. Balled it up and mixed the coconut thru the meat then made a patty and grilled it up. Was prepared to toss it or give it to the dogs, if they would have it. But it was tasty. Very tasty. The coconut stayed moist and slightly chewy and added a 'different' but very palatable flavor to the meat, with no conflicts. I'll do that again.

That's quite a menu. We have a couple of good Italian restaurants here, but they are still running a limited menu because business hasn't recovered from the virus. It goes on for pages like a book. Sip a glass of wine and peruse in the restaurant. I will check it out!

Next thing you know, curry spice will be added. These things always lead to further experimentation. BTW, a neighbor makes Elk empanadas which are savory and sweet. he uses RAISINs with onions and chopped chilies in the filling.

We had a great Mexican restaurant in Houston that closed over 40 years ago that my first wife introduced me to. They had stuffed peppers that had pecans and RAISINS in bell peppers. One of the best things I have ever eaten.

This morning, Shweetie and I worked together in the kitchen. I made a potato-sausage-egg-cheese scrambled hash in a cast iron skillet, and she made pancakes to go with it. Cowboy grub.
Good times and good food 😊.

Never heard of Martini's. This was El Patio on West Grey near River Oaks. The neighborhood got too rich for a Mexican restaraunt.

Ever heard of Joe T Garcia's in Fortworth? Ate there once. It was supposed to be an old established famous Mexican restaurant, established 1935. Good food, but didn't think it was great.

Finished my BBQ baked potato nine hours later and barley ate my beloved beans. Being sick and hungry is not for wimps. Ron is talking about Montrose a very expensive place to hang out if one is in Houston. Over priced real estate and no parking and some very high end places to get a meal. But a well heeled man needs a place close to the polo fields and downtown.

Nope, I have never been to Fort Worth. The best Mexican restaurant I have ever been to in Texas is La Fonda in San Antonio.

If I had stayed married to the first wife we would have inherited 2 large homes in Montrose. We would not have been able to afford the taxes. They were worth about $500k in 1970, but they have been torn down now.

Vile, inedible Spam.
Grad school poverty cured me of Spam (as well as $6/gal Nogales tequila).
But I read an article that a trendy place in NYC was serving its version of Spam prepared in various “new” ways.
Anyway, I got some (Hot ‘n Spicy and Jalopeño are good). Sliced it VERY thin and did it up in a lightly greased skillet until CRISP. Doggone good for breakfast, or cut the slices in half and put ‘em on a lightly toasted Sweet Hawiian slider bun. Most palatable. But straight out of the can? No way!
