That sucks. It has been several years, but my wife asked the local store manager about ordering: The manager quoted us a price for a case and the wife split it with our daughters..and he didn't hose them... he used to order a sixpack of German beer once a week for my neighbor also....but I am not sure if that would happen now.

Kroger tri color cheese tortellini with Aidells apple sausage in a garlic cream cheese sauce. I don't boil the tortellini I just let them thaw and when you brown the sausage with a bit of butter they soften up fine the reduction of the cream finishes the process. The Kroger tortellini are not as good as the fresh ones from Rice Village but to me they are better than some of the national brands.

I was reading Johns post about Albertsons and Smiths foods not having certain things. Our daughter moved to Ogden Utah for her job and she could not find hot sauce and or certain spices. Funny how we had to go round up things like Walkers One Stop Jerk Sauce, Ortega Taco Sauce. Arizona Gun Slinger , Peats Hot Sauce, Crystal and a slew of dried peppers and of all things White Pepper.

I believe Ogden is a town with people who like their food plain but in abundant portions. Your daughter may have to make use of Amazon's grocery department.

The apple-wood smoked Canadian ham spent four hours on the Weber indirectly absorbing Hickory smoke with a glaze of Onion and Pepper relish from Harry & David with Turbinado sugar followed later by French Apricot Jam. Came out just fine. Served with baked taters, baked squash and a big green salad.
I forgot how good ham can be.

Breakfast was the last mof my store bought baguette with a slice of Mortadella on one half and Provolone Cheese on the other.
Time to make some more Naan or Paratha. I tend to make Paratha with leavening- Baking Powder and Baking Soda, so they rise more than usual. King Arthur Whole Wheat Flour!!

Christy brought home a large Schlotzsky's original around 11am so I have been grazing like a cow on that for several hours. She also grabbed Cinnabons with nuts and melted caramel, I have not touched those. The kids in Ogden shop on the base at the PX for most stuff but from what I take it is small PX.

We had a Schlotzsky Deli in the Town of Toad for about eight months before they closed. They could not hire anyone able to make a sandwich. It takes knowledge and experience to produce a proper Deli sandwich. Just could not happen here. I would have to explain that the Corned Beef and Pastrami needed to be heated before being placed on the bread. They knew nothing. Sad.

Saturday was rainy here; I made Veggie/beef soup and smoked sausage sliders for supper. my favorite S.I.L. joined us and all agreed it was one of my better soups...I must pat myself on the back too ,because it was "like Grandma used to make", a few taters and carrots, some onion and red bell pepper, then a pinch of this and a dash of that, plus enough beef broth to let the magic work, OH! stewed tomatoes too...BANG!!! RAINY NIGHT DELITE!!!

Corn tortilla street tacos made with London Broil sliced paper thin and topped with cheese and avocados. I put Taco Bell hot sauce from a bottle on mine. Hey don't judge I got the bottle for one American dollar. I brown the 4inch tortillas on sides with just a touch of butter and use two per taco. Give the little tortillas a try for a change of pace.

I don't use any breading and only use a touch of olive oil on low heat flipping the thighs so they don't burn and the skin gets crispy and golden. Being diabetic I don't eat fried breaded chicken very often. When I do make it I soak it in butter milk overnight and deep fry it in a big cast iron Dutch oven with the lid on. Then I pitch the vegetable oil out. I tend to slow cook using low heat and good olive oil sometimes with butter. We all know how much smoke you can make with high heat and butter and ruin the flavor of good olive oil. Over the years I have learned to cook by smell allowing me not to have to stand over the stove. I do whip up a sauce rather quickly using very high heat such as a Bechamel , Hollandaise, Cream Peppercorn etc.

the wife made golden fried, boneless pork chops for supper, also Foil wrapped potatoes stuffed with sweet onion and butter, and green beans ... the rolls she laid out to rise were forgotten and, only seconds ago, I popped them into a hot oven...in a moment I'll be having a late night snack of hot roll and homemade apple-butter!!!
