In town for tests. So a stop at KFC for lunch. 1/2 of a chicken fried. Although, I suspect multiple chickens were involved. Watery mashed potatoes with gravy and a decent biscuit. Lemonade. It was good. The pot pies aren’t bad. I love the xtra crispy chicken.

It was good. I hadn't had KFC for a long long time - so after seeing a commercial on TV last week, I went out and got a 3 piece chicken dinner - original recipe, with biscuits, mash potatoes and gravy. Really hit the spot.

Mixed shredded cheddar cheese into a pound of Jimmy Dean sausage. Made golf ball sized balls and wrapped in bacon. Baked for 45 minutes, then a couple minutes under the broiler. Came out great - but were a little salty, and the cheese disappeared. My son has been making these and smoking them, so I thought I'd give them a try. Next time I smoke ribs or something, I'll do some of these in the smoker.

The one thing that I have learned about KFC when ordering "to Go".
You must always ask for plasticware, extra napkins, and butter and honey.
I have been burned too many times when eating on the road...for some reason they assume people fingerlift the mashed potatoes medeivel style and that they don't want butter and honey, and that "finger licking good" means that you don't want napkins.

My local store has a nice young man who makes sure all is included in the bag. I know how frustrating it can be when there is no spork or straw or paper napkins. So, the next problem was where to consume this feast. It being hot in Taos I searched for shade to park the truck and eat in the cab. Taos has been around for a very long time. There was a revolt in 1680. The Pueblo have been there 1,000 years. That does not mean one can access public shade though. So, I found a spot next to a bank building and parked there. Was on my second piece of KFC when their security busy body asked me what I was doing there? "Picnicking", says I. "PICNICKING???" he asks. "DO YOU SEE A SIGN WHICH SAYS PICNIC HERE?" I assured I had an account with the bank and would be in the line shortly. He went off. I finished lunch and almost left the bones but reason prevailed.

enjoyed the above KFC story above. Ours is in same building as Long John Silver (same ownership I'd assume). Back "in the day", about once monthly we'd do the Silvers part sit down. Neither one of us had any use for the KFC part. The Mickey D's...across the parking lot. Seldom do that one either
for now, brunch time. Schwan #481 (3) toaster pancakes, one cycle, usual adds & to plateful of mess. That + k-cup cocoa to smoking room desk & continue with the papers. Other activity posted in WAYS. Hope all have a nice weekend

Sadly, this jar is the last of it. The Great Big Brains which have taken over "Bob's" no longer produce it. Fortunately, I have a recipe which is pretty close. I will save the old jar and refill it when I make some.

Breakfast was Folgers Black Silk in a k-cup and a banana. Lunch was in Jefferson. Catfish, hush puppies, slaw, pinto beans and fries. Left my cane in the cart at Walmart so I went into an antique store by our house. Got a cane and an old Cafe Du Monde coffee cup for $4. Wish my back would straighten up.

Visited my folks at the Jersey Shore today(stayed in the house). Had a very nice lunch. I had turkey, roast beef, roasted peppers and hummus on a whole wheat wrap. I also had a rice ball that my son and mom made. Then we had some dessert. I don’t eat sweets so I stayed away from the baked goods but I enjoyed some of the biggest fresh figs I’ve ever had as well as some cherries, cantaloupe and honeydew enjoyed with a cup of espresso. It was good to see them.

Around the corner is one of my favorite restaurants. La Ristra New Mexican Grill. Shark tacos, green Chile mashed potatoes, Pinto beans extraordinaire, Calabacitas, stuffed Sopapillas.
A few pints of Amber on tap.

I did take half a Vicodin yesterday. Which probably explains why I found my cane behind some boxes in the house a little bit ago. 😏😞

brunch time to be our usual Sunday fare in "griddle" part of GeoForman grill, side of English muffins (need to repeat the details)? Sort of a "staple" for quite awhile now. Used to be Dennys "grand slams", joint now closed, miss same

Another pan grilled Hamburger with 85/15, chipolte gouda cheese, dill pickle, red onion, lettuce, Pommery Mustard. No Burger Buns in Taos when at the store this past week. So, multi-grain flat bread. Trying to find a Burger Bun is difficult.

The Denny’s near my home has incredible servers, and the food is always cooked right. The over 55 menu is scaled back from the regular one, but the savings are pretty significant.
