Decided to start a new thread for my stuff. Making this Pet Sounds inspired pot for Bouwser, who used to come by here. Dat Juma tho... This has bucket hat and flip flops written all over it.

The one I just rusticated came out the restore and send over to the local pipe shop for consignment box. But the more I look at it the more I want to keep it for myself.

I am enjoying so much more than I expected. It's a quality pipe and smokes fantastic. I think I may need a Cramp's pipe sometime next year though.

I am not a fan of colored stem pipes. I must now change that line to, I am not a fan of most colored stem pipes. That pipe is amazing!

I am not a fan of colored stem pipes. I must now change that line to, I am not a fan of most colored stem pipes. That pipe is amazing! And that is the problem with *most colored stems. They either take away from pipe, as a whole, or it looks like two distinct parts. Sometimes they just look like, "Ooooooo, this garish piece of crummy acrylic pen blank makes this pipe SO MUCH more interesting!", and it just looks like crap. I mean, I do swirled Ebonite most of the time, because it can give a splash of color without taking away from cohesive design. It's tasteful. When I decide to do something like this, it's completely intentional, to be a part of a specific "design". Most times it works well. I stick to a rule of 3 colors. Stummel, band if I'm using one, and stem. Sometimes I'll even use plain white Juma instead of faux ivory, because I think the grain in the ivory is too much. Ok, I'll stop blathering.

I have 3 early 70s Italian pipes with the really garish gold swirl stems. Kind of tacky, but they are what they are and they smoke fine. Also a couple from Copenhagen that are a little more subdued. Mostly silver and gray.

Cramptholomew I'm normally a fan of the more natural browns and tans with the grain showing, but that ruby/ red / burgundy pipe is flat purty!

You are getting better and better all the time. I really like the creative stem work, the color/pattern interpretation between pipe grain/stain and stem and the beautiful grain you have captured. Keep it up!!
