Morning all. Got some morning cleanup done around the kitchen, now settling into my study with a cup of coffee and a Scottie loaded with Presbyterian Mixture.

On a cool 48 degree morning with the patio heater on low, enjoying a bowl of condor plug in an antique meerschaum billiard, coffee on the side.

Cold and rainy all day here in NE Texas. Going to take care of a stack of honey-dos today. Right after I finish this cup of coffee.

Been stuck with what's available locally Lesley and I must say if this is all I can get I'll be giving up my pipe journey. I've had Colts deluxe which was tolerable but not at all my preferred smoke. Today is finishing a pouch of sail regular. I've tried it in all my pipes and smoked it every which way from Sunday and damn it I can't make it taste good to save my life. Pleasant room note though. But that's about all. My local shop has I've more for me to try. Colts American mixture. I'll try that today and fingers crossed. For the price here I'm spending more then if like for a sub- par tobacco. However my coffee is always good lol. how much does a pouch of tobacco cost there?

$40 for a pouch of CBR!! I would give up the pipe, or at least smoke it much less. Or migrate to Texas.

All said and done that pouch cost me 45 cad and that's the cheapest I'm able to get to . With that said I hope you can see my frustrations. I love the pipe and I love and appreciate a fine tobacco. But for me( because I can't drive) the choices are almost none. Maybe I'm on the poorer end of the folks on here I don't know but for me right now 50g at 45 isn't going to work. Maybe I'm to poor for a hobby such as pipe smoking. Never thought of it as a rich man thing but in my case maybe it is. It's also worth noting I have 4 kids and a wife that doesn't work. Maybe I'm pursuing the wrong thing I guess

Just finished a bowl of rum and maple outside while the kids played in the snow. This was one of those great bowls - one "true light", one tamp, smoked for darn near an hour right down to ash. Good thing, because I was too busy throwing and dodging snowballs to worry about the pipe!

Maybe I'm pursuing the wrong thing I guess Scott, I’m currently residing on the BC side of the border ever since COVID started. In BC, a 50g tin will cost anywhere between $50-$57 Cdn depending on the brand. The sin tax definitely sucks here.

Plumberry and brown cow are lined up MM cobs. It's going to be a sleepless night. I think insomnia is tapping me on the shoulder... yet again. But I have a chance to wrap and hide Christmas gifts. Have a safe night all those working. Sleep well to all those who can.

Finished a bowl of the St. James flake on the patio with my trusty portable heater to keep me warm. Another cold, wet and miserable day in the PNW.

C&D Epiphany in an old MM bent Rob Roy cob with a bent stem on it.
Think I'll pop a 1999 tin of McClelland Mixture #12 next week. I nearly did it tonight.

Greets all. In from usual full walks, no-band 5x50 for company. After the Ed is fed, '06 "mostly latakia" well dried in RadiciRind full bent poker-sitter & continue with the papers. Drizzly rain started so will have to put ice melt down on porch/steps before heading out. Have to keep same at room temp cause last winter left out on porch & what was left became a brick. A few smaller pipes thruout the day as the cobs are in "rest" mode
As usual, stay safe all (as much as possible)
31,drizzle rain xpected for much of the day
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY pipe/cigar since '62
