Smothered ribeye at Texas Roadhouse in Yuma. I bet I could get the guys at my favorite Mexican joint, the one with the real..., to grill a steak like that. No mashed tater's, of course. Beans and rice or fries. But that is OK. I think this photo will be printed out and taken with me to their place!!

A pork and venison hot link on a slice of bread with mustard and a nectarine. Coffee on the side. Lunch was McDonald's copy of a Chick-fil-A sandwich. I have yet to try one of these Chicken sandwiches now in style. No ChikF, Popeyes, Church's, etc here. The KFC is spotty on operating hours-- when there are enough crew, they will open.

KFC has been iffy for years. Many times in the 80s we would go right after church and they would be out of chicken. The people at the window usually suck and are rude. Popeyes always has good people who are always pleasant to deal with. We would rather leave without a "you have a blessed day".

our usual later Fri afternoon. Me get groceries, help wifie put 'em away, go back to diner across from grocery store, home with fish frys to go. Either haddock or cod, depending on wholesale cost to diner (can tell the diff). Including $3 for the server, total about $19 (sides we donate, hopefully to a Veteran)

Went to a place called the Coffee Connection. Got a turkey provolone pesto wrap. Not bad. Would have been bland without the pesto.
Yesterday I had their chicken salad w/ cranberry and walnut wrap. Excellent!
Tomorrow, maybe their Chipotle BLT wrap!

Tonight, its gonna be Hungarian Goulash. As authentic as I can stand it. No caraway in my goulash. But a good amount of Szeged paprika, both sweet and hot. No noodles, spoon dumplings.

Alfred's Delicatessen. I had many excellent meals there, a few with Mr Alfred. It will never be the same. Katzs is a chain and they just don't cut it for me. Capiche?

I made "Tuscan Salmon with Spinach and Artichokes". Turned out pretty good. Added some garlic bread, mashed potatoes and wine.

I made tossed salads for four tonight, and just as I was finishing them up, one of the gals came in with the most tender slow-roasted chicken from a new place she ran across today. The skin was darkened with spices and dripping with juice. I divided the breast meat over the salads ,along with some of the skin and some more meat from the wings. we added croutons, and some sharp white cheddar, a dressing of mayo and English mustard , and in no time at all sparks began to fly from our knives and forks...few words were spoken. Afterward we were left with empty bowls and full stomachs, and eyes only rolled at the mention of desert , just good coffee , and a plan to do it again very soon. The leg quarters are hidden in the fridge ,for tomorrow.

This morning, crunchy peanut butter and banana on whole wheat bread. Café Bustelo in the cezve with cardamom and demerara sugar. Half the price as Kurukavechi Memet Effendi from Turkey and just about as good.
