The last of my home baked bread.
Out of Bread Flour. Only generic AP and Spelt left. So, I might make Naan today.
King Arthur is galloping to my location with 13 pounds of his good stuff but will not arrive until Tuesday.

Toast de France. Homemade jam and fruit on the side. I have permission to enjoy a cigar after brunch. There might be some whiskey involved😉.

Leftover pizza.
Tomorrow will be epic. My son is making fresh pasta and I’m making a meat sauce with a 4 pound oxtail gifted to me by a local farmer and friend. Can’t wait.

I can smell it from here 😋 Looks delicious! And makes me a little jealous. I am the only one who eats(loves) ham in my family.

My deer hunters are here, so I scrabbled up one of my chicken taco things. They brought Jameson, Pendleton, and some Canadian for the toddies. Plus summer sausage and crackers for the preamble. We’ll do the horses-ovaries and the drinks and then dive into taco after taco... after taco. Should be a good night. Lots of lies will be swapped. No camaraderie quite like the deer camp.

Starting the new year off right. Sirloin, potato wedges, garlic bread, potato salad. The wine is a homemade "Super Tuscan" - vintage May 2018. Maybe the best wine I've ever made. (The wine is made from a "kit" from a company called RJ Sprangnols. Some people get confused when I say "homemade", but the label looks otherwise. The labels are included with the "kit".)

Havent had a strawberry rhubarb pie since my mother-in-law moved to IN. Was fantastic. We had a little rhubarb once. The wife didn't know what to do with it. Told her to buy some strawberries and make a pie. She thought I was nuts. She changed her mind when she tasted the pie! Which reminds me of a story. When I was first married, my wife stopped by to see my parents. They were busy planting new strawberries in their strawberry patch. My wife jumped in and helped them pack a funny smelling dirt around the new plants. (My wife is a bit of a "city girl".) She freaked out later when she found out the "funny smelling dirt" was hog manure.

We used to eat raw rhubarb from my grandmother's garden, I don't know how we did it. I higly recommend going the pie route.

My dad loved the pie. I was worried about the top crust as I’ve never done it before but he said it was fine. Now I’m at home eating a frozen linguine and clam sauce from Trader Joe’s

Homemade is better, good for you.

Some good ole black-eyed peas ,tonight, with my wife's dumplings and stewed tomatoes. We figured we were overdue for a meatless meal, but Ron's ham sure gave me second thoughts.

And it was. My son in law has perfected grilling steaks. I converted him from gas to charcoal/ wood. No looking back for him now. He put his Genesis gas grill on Offer up and bought a real grill. Duke fared sumptuously on the fatty tails.
