Buried an uncle today. Third one in as many years. Two of them, including this one, were done in by dementia. The first one was Parkinson's dementia, and this one was Lewe Body dementia. Neither has anything to recommend it. They are equally remorseless. My condolences, Urb.

Catching up on the threads, it looks like it's been a quiet couple of days on the Patch. A lot of people had things going during the holiday, I imagine.

Spent the holiday weekend outdoors as much as possible. Started each day, except rainy Friday, in the backyard with a pipe and coffee. Did some planting, weeding, watering, mulch hauling, cleaning, cooking, beer drinking and enjoying the company of family. Got my Dad out for the afternoon on Sunday. Had a get-together at my sister's. He was happy to be with everyone, and see our unmasked faces, for the first time since November.

Drove into the Town of Toad to pick up the alternator I ordered last week. I was told it was in. Stood in the shop for an hour while they searched and then acknowledged the order never went in. It seems the Millennial young lady who took the order from me in person never quite competed the job. No part. So, a reorder and a third trip to Toad will be required. These young people make my arse very tired.

If it makes you feel any better, I've had people of all ages screw things up.

More often than not, they immediately knew what you needed and confirmed it in the parts manuals. Now you walk in to O’Reilly’s or Autozone and the guy that was telemarketing last week heads to the computer knowing less than the consumer. Don’t even get me started on reconditioned factory parts like A/C compressors, I figure the rebuilds are done in a place like Sri Lanka by workers that have never experienced the wonders of A/C.

I used to work in an assisted living facility taking care of folks that had dementia and or Parkinson's disease. Both of them are horrible. Those are the two things I worry about in life, getting dementia or Parkinson's disease.

My assistant is gone for the next week, so I talked my daughter into coming down to the office to fill in for him.
My older daughter heard about it, called my younger and gave her the rundown of what to expect. She said, "You're about to see a new side of Dad. Don't get freaked out."
Those poor girls. Hah hah.
Got two new novels due in today, but one author decided he needed an extra week. I bet the difference won't be all that remarkable.

Nightking, you have done a real big job with that weedeater...I tried it once but got so much grass and crap on me that I looked green. Good luck in getting the mower back in shape so you don't have to do that weedeater thing again.
Getting warm here in north Fla....keeping an eye on the Gulf for any possibility of storms. Great day to be retired.

A lot of it I can not mow. I put my wife's mower deck back on for her. I don't dare mow rocks with her nice deck. Yes I am a mess after weed eating almost 5 gallons since I started and about 1000ft of line. Got to fertilize the front and back yards and get 3 new hoses to run 3 more sprinklers in the pasture.

Sounds like a great job, except that it probably takes the fun out of reading. Whenever I get a poorly edited book I just want to tear my hair out. I thought about it as a career, but I had no idea how to get into it. Then life took over.

I thought about it as a career, but I had no idea how to get into it. Then life took over. It's an odd career, for sure. It's certainly made me a more critical reader, but in some ways it has humanized the authors for me. I'm more willing to put up with minor mistakes than I used to be, but major plot errors and stuff drive me up the wall.

Started the day with Haunted Bookshop and coffee on the back porch. Went over to Dad's house to meet my wife and sister, who were cleaning out bedrooms. 55 years of accumulation means a lot of garbage bags. I worked in the backyard, trimming roses, weeding and making executive decisions on what plants stay and which get pulled out. When the rain stops, I'll be able to do a little work in my yard. Still got a lot of flowers to pot up or use for hanging baskets.

Doing what I like to do and at my own pace, although this bit with Dad's house is cutting into my lounging time. The good thing is there's no deadline. When we get the main floor of the house emptied out, the kid can move in, or start painting the rooms. The big work will be some of the furniture, and will need his help with that. I'm actually excited about him wanting to take this on, and breathe some life into the place. Will be happy to come over to help him, and help empty beer from his fridge.

Got my cooler job done yesterday and the customer was very pleased with the result. I have it humming at 34 degrees and it runs very quiet. The coldest I could get this cooler before was 38 without having issues. He called me twice last night complimenting and thanking me for my work. Not used to people calling me about something running good, usually it's that it's broke.
Have to drive an hour and a half for work today and have a list of things to do there so this will be my entire day. Now that Ohio has lifted all the restrictions my work load is really picking up. I'm booked through next Thursday, I haven't been this far behind in a couple years. It's nice to be back to normal.

If I was a Guy who sues I believe I have a dozy, went to so called Sears at wife’s direction, it’s not your Sears anymore little girl, it’s American Furniture Company useing Sears name, wife wanted an ice box French door model. 2800$, applied for credit card from them , denied, took my debit card, denied despite haveing twice that amount in bank, later they text messaged me and asked if I had done that transaction, say yes and you can use your credit card again. Now I’m 78, own 41 acres worth over 10,000$ an acre. House free and clear, 2 vechiles free and clear, yet I was denied 2800 credit. By the way my credit score is 748. Yesterday I get a letter from Sears saying because of my age credit was denied , are you kidding, you put that on paper. Had the 3 years old GE fixed, yep I could sue them, but you know fudge Sears.

Sorted off some pairs this morning and sent them to the sale barn, cows that are getting too old to survive in the mountains. Going to the airport in Alamosa to pick up Will this evening. He’s coming up for about a month to help with more branding and the heavy riding we’re about to get into. Be good to see him again.

They never had any grown cows that were good for anything but hamburger 🍔.

Over the weekend I installed a through the wall air conditioner in the utility room. All of the windows were too small to fit a regular window unit. Had to make a new hole. Today I got the generator fixed and used it with the angle grinder to cut off some old gas pipes that were sticking up in the yard. I have become so out of shape that my neuropathy is acting up again. Feet burned so bad last night that I couldn't sleep.
