Attempting to repair a shed roof on an out building used by the livestock. It is a portal roof added onto the shed by someone, not me, who was clearly NOT a carpenter. I am having trouble figuring out how to save it when it needs to be torn down and rebuilt.
Now contemplating my options whilst enjoying a Tanqueray Martini with an olive and in a proper martini Glass. I want to find a solution which comports, roughly, to normal construction practices such as straight, plumb and level. This roof appears to have been scabbed together during a blizzard while the ground heaved from an earthquake and the background radiation was at aa lethal level.

The dang problem is I cannot run back and forth to the shop for tools and parts. Old aching knees and leg bones! I guess it is time to hang it all up and just sit in a chair. My days of work in the field are about over it seems. That will not happen if I have anything to say about it and Gin is still sold!

Sorry to hear that John. I know that you aren’t retired, so the following does not pertain to you. I know several retirees that after years of working, vegged out. Not a good approach, as long as you have he flexibility and ability, push yourself.
This 61 year old can outwork most 35 year old’s.

Rec'd a call today from Social Security. (Oh, yeah!) A woman with a thick Indian accent told me my account was in danger and I needed to call her back immediately. It was on my answering machine so there was no back-and-forth. The number she gave was a 766 area code. Gee, I better call her first thing in the morning!

Trimmed tree, gathered pine straw, cut yard, too much in a day for an old man, Today is a day off.

Might want to check with her about your car warranty while you have her on the line! 😐 Most likely a scam...heard it before several times. I never answer a call where caller id is blocked. They are welcome to leave a message that I will later ignore before blocking their number. In any case, government agencies will never call you. All formal correspondence is strictly by letter.

Before the pandemic there was a Youtube piper who received a similar call. He is a Catholic priest in New Orleans. He decided to call them back live on his Youtube channel, broadcasting of course. It was hilarious. He just kept talking the guy round in circles and when the man finally realized he was being broadcast he started screaming curses before hanging up. One of the more entertaining Youtube videos.

Put our fertilizer and moved the sprinklers around several times. Just the walking back and forth has worn me out. I need to be working on the shelves in the shed.

Nuisance calls a regular here, no call blocking button on our landline (cell phone is always off). Sometimes just hang up on 'em, sometimes wifie "plays) for awhile, sometimes tell 'em hearing aids don't cure foreign accents etc. The monitor sits on an old desk that used to be her first husband. In top drawer, a dog whistle, not afraid to use it
To smoking room & glass top desk, extension phone & in handy drawer...a small air horn, if in the "mood" while he/she rattles along, let go so far, not afraid to use it either. Bad news...the bastids keep calling. Course could just let it ring but it's fun to mess with 'em.( Edited the word "mess" but y'all can guess what I really ment)

In any case, government agencies will never call you. All formal correspondence is strictly by letter. I'm even more strict. If I don't recognize the number and I'm not expecting a call from an unknown number (a medical referral or something, for instance), I don't answer. If it's somebody who actually needs to speak to me, they can leave a message and I'll call back. But I'm not answering.

What a great day! 32 years ago an 8YO kid showed up at our place and "adopted" us. Just like that. He was thereafter at our house at all hours and could show up at anytime. If it was after school and about 5PM his question would be "What's for supper?" I called him the "little sh*t." Funny thing was he had a fine, loving family right down the street. (This was when I was back east.) Years of (informal) mentoring ensued. He is now a top exec at an international corporation on the fast line to CEO. And... is coming all the way out here for a visit early in November! Just got his schedule. He's already been out here once, 12 years ago. We communicate but he is busy, busy. Calls me his "spare dad." Believe me, I am stoked.

Daughter and husband went to Vegas, other daughter and husband went to Show Low, son and wife went out to Tombstone.
4 grand critters at our house mesmerized while watching Pete’s Dragon with Helen Reddy.
The savages are tamed for a bit.
